Well gang.....I've been invited to hunt a heavily managed farm this weekend. The owner wants us to shoot a management buck or two.....And, this farm is loaded with 130-140" 8 and 9 pointers.......There's certainly no such thing as a sure thing......But my chances are better than average this weekend. I'll be hunting for 3 days, so who knows. Maybe a dumb one will pass my stand in bow range....
Will do tonester....Will do. I'm excited about it. My buddy went up and scoped it out yesterday, he saw over 30 deer in the middle of the afternoon. They checked the cameras they have set out, and in a week got over 1000 pics and alot were bucks.....I dunno, but I'm starting to get restless....Could be good, we'll see.
Wow sounds like a good opportunity and a good time Mo, how cool of an opportunity is that!! Im just plugging away, hunting every chance I get. Ive passed lots of 100" ers and a few 115" - 120" bucks, lots of time left. My biggest problem right now is I need video footage of kills for the business, so until I kill something all my other buddies that are hunting on properties with me, close to me that I could video are killing deer. Im missing out on some good stuff. 1 buddy already tagged out and shot 2 140+ 10 pts I could have had on video. Tough call for me, wait it out for a 130+ and miss out on lots of video, or lower my personal goals for the year and take a smaller buck than planned and get footage for business purposes?? Also, do we get points for Doe's? omeone told me we get points in this contest for a Doe. Ive got a few kills on video of me, but none with pics of me and the bow. I'll take out a Doe tonight or this weekend if thats the case with the bow and all in the picture. I'll go look and read the rules.
Well I am heading out despite all this rain but before I go I have to tell you this ultimate camo did its job. Friday 3x a non shooter 8 pointer got into within about 8 yards stared me down once for 5 minutes didnt move and he just went about his busines after that. Proud of this camo Andy. T
Thats awesome T, glad to hear it. I have a whole bunch of awesome footage like that. Not sure how Im going to get it all online but some of the footage is really cool. Just hung a bunch of mew sets all day after patterning some deer. I had 3 shooters come in last night but by the time they were in range we didnt have enough camera light again. One was good enough to almost make me say screw the video but he was facing me eating acorns until well after dark so the camera didnt matter anyway.
I shot a doe and half way from where I last seen her found guts so I will have some looking to do later this morning. T
Didn't get one this weekend, but I couldn't even tell you how many deer I saw. Could have killed numerous does, but it was pretty damn hot out. We're headed back in a couple weeks and the first week of November. This place is just incredible. We saw a ton of scrapes this weekend.....Ya'll seeing that too?
T, let me know if you can't find your card reader. I am heading up north everynight through the weekend so I can bring mine with me if you need it.
Had this guy at 30 yards, obviously I took this with my hand held. We have good footage of him on a camera arm with 2 other decent bucks. I passed on him .... for now Ive some real nice bucks, but, this guys is cool because hes that Rob buck I have a bunch of trail camera pics of. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOevRIPF5gA
Well Im happy to report I scored. I was able to take the non typical Ive been watching on one of my properties. He came in with 2 other bucks. I had about 20 deer within 20 yards of me but never got busted by smell or sight When all the Does came in I was still seated, then I had 3 bucks come in quick. I was able to get a shot off at 15 yards broadside. I hit him about 8" back from where I had my pin as I shot and it hit a small branch. I watched the branch flutter to the ground with the leaves on it right after the shot which made me cringe a bit I have to admit, but, I saw the shot was still solidly in his mid section, he walked about 130 yards flickering his tail before going down. My saving grace was he was close, so the shot getting knocked slightly off target still did the job although Im really lucky, and really pissed at myself about that but I just didnt see the little branches, Ive had to wear reading glasses the past few months, Im 43 years old and my eyes are starting get old I guess. Had he been 30 yards out I may not be posting these pics. He dressed out at 182lbs on a scale. I'll measure him up later. All in all Im really happy to have had the good luck and good fortune to take this guy, hes really cool in person, much better than the pics can portray honetly especially with his body size, and I love the choclate rack. Heading back out to video a buddy hunt right now, I'll get a score on him later. Oh, and I got a gratuitus Bowhinting hat pic for Justin and Todd. Actually I took a bunch if he wants to use it for his site. Now I can relax, wait for a real hammer and video some buddies
Well Congrats Andy I just found out at the U.C. site under success shots. Neat looking buck for sure and you doing a mount?
