my military friend came back a week ago and we went up to his dads house, he has a room dedicated to the big game hes dropped and the hunts that will stick forever. with each picture, or mount, hes got the head hes used to take down that animal. hes got a 300+ lb sow he shot with his old PSE and he used the muzzy 4 blade older style, the blades were a little bent and he said that he kept a pair of needle nose pliers to rebend the blades before he would keep the blades.. usually what varies was different weights in the heads, but none of them were under 125.. he had about 10 mounts in that room and 5 pictures and about 12 of them were 4 blade muzzys, i asked him if he had used any other brand and he replied " tried some but hated em " his daughter is going deer hunting for the first time and hes using a 3 blade.

i saw this and it made me think about not changing my heads at all. i have both muzzy 3/4 blades and if i wanted i could use an adapter to make some 2 blades, seems like they have my every need in one simple package =]

does anyone else have stories about they choose muzzy every hunt? or majority of the hunts ? id never use a muzzy small game head because i make my own, but thats a different story :moose:

I still use the old style and still love em. I have no idea how many deer they have taken out for me and I have never had a single issue other than an occasional bent blade. I used 3 blade 125s for years and ordered some 4 bladed 115s. Right now I am set up for the 125 4 blades. Love em all and even use Muzzy Fish Heads.

I use the old style 125gr 3 blade heads. The longer, gentler taper of the old style blade is better for penetration for low KE shooters like myself. (I'm in the upper 30's in KE)

If I do my part and put the Muzzy where it needs to be, the critter usually drops in sight. The only failures have been on my end.

I have found that muzzys either new or old new, your bow needs to be tuned, if you shoot a muzzy with a bow that is field point fixed, 8 out of 10 times the muzzy will have a mind of its own, NAP makes some great fixed blade broad heads, I personally shoot mechanical because I love the accuracy with them.. I use the NAP killzone, and rage two blade, they are both devestating on any game you shoot with them.

What you have found, is 8 out of 10 times the bow wasn't truly tuned.

I've been using Muzzy's for at least 10 years. I have never had to readjust a sight, they ALWAYS fly great, but my bows are properly tuned. I switched from the standard to the MX-3 this year because I couldn't find standard replacement blades locally. I was not impressed with the durability of the MX-3. I think I will be trying a new head for next year.

:tu: As if Muzzy heads are the only ones that should only be shot from a well tuned bow.

Anybody else hear Ted Nugent is going to be shooting/promoting the new Muzzy heads in 2013? Might be another reason to change heads for me right there haha.

Muzzy has the closest thing to my old favorite - Bear razor w/bleeder - tried a few different heads but always ended up back with a muzzy 4 blade or 2 blade w/bleeder if I can find em.

I've been using the 100 gr. 4 blade for the past 6 years and love them. My bows are well tuned and the heads shoot great out of them. I've used the Killzone this year because I was given some and asked to try them. No complaints there either.
