Glad to see Quinn go, but still a lot of changes needed in both the Senate and House. Until that happens it's the same old Illinois with Madigan in control. That AWB on the Cook county ballot made no sense. They already have their ban. Really wish the term limits would have stayed on, but Madigan used his muscle and had it removed.
Illinois and finally MD changed the past. It was close but Hogan won over O'Malley's heir Anthony Brown. Glad to see some people got their heads out of their rear ends. Historically my vote didn't count because of Baltimore City and the suburbs of DC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The cynical side of me thinks that the quinn loss is a bit orchestrated. Illinois is so far over the cliff, it can't be pulled back. Madigan and company can now blame Rauner and Republicans. But for the small stuff Rauner may be able to be helpful. If nothing else, you get rid of Marc Miller.
Wouldn't miss voting for anything...Did my civic duty and helped put Kaye Hagen out of D.C. Hell if she would stay out of NC, I'd volunteer to help move her!
Right on. Who in the hell would want to have to clean up the mess in IL?! Best of luck to him, but he's doomed.
Oh, that's easily explained with just three letters: U-A-W I agree...they would have stolen this election if there was a long term benefit to doing so. It's going to be a long painful process to right this ship...and MM and Co. will be there at the end of his first term pointing out how much all the spending cuts are hurting Cook County.
I no longer vote and probably won't again for a long time. Mainly because I despise most if not all politicians. Republican and democrat. If you honestly believe ANY of them have YOUR best interests in mind than turn around because there is a Bigfoot standing behind you. Even if there is a candidate with similar views as me I don't trust them. And yes I still have the right to complain, it's just now I can to complain about both parties instead of just one.
This is honestly how I feel except I still do it for some reason. It doesn't matter who it is they say what they can to get elected then it's always the same, they do none of it.
Really? You apparently don't realize how much better off your state is economically after just one term of a R governor than under the previous regime... You're largely correct in thinking that many/most politicians do not have our interests at heart - but you can be sure they will always be on the lookout for #1. We can make them fear for their own job security. Their power comes from us. We grant them that power through our votes. If they have a legitimate fear of losing it then they will legislate with that fear always looming over their shoulder; ie do what we want them to do. So, by not voting, you are giving them authority to legislate without your interests in mind. You give them power over your life in exchange for nothing. They do not care for or even fear you because you do not care to assert yourself. Supporting one party or the other does not have anything to do with whether or not you have the right to complain about either party or both. Despite being a registered R; I'm an equal opportunity political party basher. I hate and complain about the GOP establishment as much as anyone but in my opinion Conservative ideals work. It's up to me and like-minded voters to make sure the GOP does more than just pay those principles lip service. Should they stray too far from those ideals, I support the primary against them. They may not fear me individually, but they do fear the masses of people who stand with me - take the NRA for example. Even many Dems are scared crapless of the NRA.
