Adjusting the DW could be an alternative method instead of cutting the shaft.

Actually, a lot can be gained by adding the weight up front... you'll up your FOC % drastically, and you'll reap tons of benefits from doing so. Rather than listening to a diatribe from one of us again on the merits of doing so, run a quick search on "high FOC" on a couple of the bowhunting forums and you'll find literally PAGES touting its advantages.

    Thanks guys. All good advice.

GNMAT - your comments clarified your point.

I am rethinking the benefits of taking two inches off which lightens the arrow by about 18 grains then stepping up to a 125 if that works better than the 100 with the stiffer arrow. I would absolutely move the weight forward and not lose hardly any velocity.

I am going to give it some thought. I wish the spine charts were more complete in terms of weight of tip, but there are resources to help estimate it's impact.

thanks again guys. I really do appreciate this.

And you're ALWAYS better to have a STIFF vs. WEAK spine!!! I'd plot that set-up right on the border of needing a PSE400 (actually a .300" spine) with the arrow length, and a 125gr tip (and you could always add the brass insert if you wanted to to up the wt. and FOC a little. For shooting FIXED blade BH's, you DEFINITELY want a stiffer spine in my experience and that of most others. And 30" of arrow is FINE, for a 30" draw. I tend to keep my arrows a half inch longer than my DL to keep them away from my fingers at full draw, and longer arrows have a better flight pattern as well.
