Hello everyone, I am new to bow hunting and only just got a bow...I hope someone here can help with my question - today I was shooting and the nock blew apart as I released the arrow. When this happened the bow made a very loud vibrating sound and the arrow shot into the ground about 8 feet in front of me. Since then the bow seems louder..this may entirely be in my head because I'm panicking that I may have broke something on a brand new bow, but with that said it's still shooting plenty accurate at 25 yards (the only distance I've shot yet) and I've shot it several times since. My question is, could I have damaged my bow and can a damaged bow still be accurate? Feel free to laugh at me if this is a stupid question, but I'd appreciate and answer as well! Thanks in advance!
If the arrow came off, even part way, it would have been like dry firing the bow. Could have loosened any of the screws & bolts on the bow. I'd check & tighten everything on it. If you can, it wouldn't hurt to take it to a proshop and have them go through it quick. Better to be safe than sorry.
I'd have a good proshop go over it. There's any number of things that come to mind but a limb being unsettled from the limb pocket is the first. A limb could even be cracked. Take a cottonball and run it all over both limbs to see if any cotton gets stuck to a cracked fiber. It'd still shoot... until it comes apart.
thanks for the responses guys, I will follow the advice and take it in to have it looked at...appreciate your input!
