Great stuff! Thanks for the lesson, TJ ... I will be watching closely as I have plenty of time off all 3 of those weeks :)

Totally messing with ya. I'm all in that first week too. It'll be kinda nice to hunt in the 60's compared to last year. Remember the polar vortex that came in the 3rd week last year? Good grief, could barely hunt at all.

I figured as much, but being south of you a few hundred miles it could still hold true.

I've never hunted Halloween on, always hunted the closest weekend and then took one off before my vacation.

Looking forward to the learning of it, 3 day weekends I can always mix it up next year. Split that 4 day vacation and have 2 five day sits with only 2 interrupted.

I'm hunting pretty far south, I'll be in Jackson county (south of Carbondale) most of the time. I got a lease in Clay county also.

I thought that buck you shot last year was up north?

I'm west central, but not in the golden triangle that is always talked about.

Good luck regardless, there's one behind every tree. I've just been unable to define the everytree, seen ever greens and trees, but not an everytree yet.

I've had the best luck from end of first week to middle of third week.
With our new place I'm gonna play it by what I see.

Negative. I live in Crook, but have to drive 4 or 6 hours to hunt. Took that one in Clay Co. In over 30 years I couldn't ever find a local spot, it sucks.
Best of luck to you too, I'm so looking forward to that week! :woot:

My father heads out to SW Illinois next Thursday, and I'll be joining him the following Friday. Lucky ba$t@rd gets the first two weeks of November there!!

The guy we hunt with says he feels around the 10th of Nov. is the best time to be in the woods in his area. We have been down there either the first or second week of Nov. the last 3 years leading up to this year, and it hasn't been a disappointment for us Maine boys yet!

I normally take the 3rd week of Nov. up here, normally there is snow on the ground by then and the bucks are still chasing the does.

I always try for the 8th-13th. That seems to work best for me in my area

I'm off for 3 months starting November 1st. Until then, during October, I am forced to hunt 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon and work in between.

CLS, I just did a monthly search on weather.com and am not liking what I am seeing that first week.

How accurate? What are you seeing? Likely it will change?

I'm thinking my full vacation will be mild and dry. Should be a system early next week that brings in the cold but after that we'll turn to a mild spell of weather. Mild meaning warmer than we'd like but hopefully not too warm.

Hinking the week after that anither big low pressure system will affect a good chunk of the US. This is likely the downstrwam effects of Typhoon Champi currently affecting the Phillipines

Might add that I have no weather education, just a weather fan. We'll see what happens.

It'll be mid 60's for the high. I don't expect a lot of midday action unless there's a hot doe in the area. I love sunrise to 10 am that week. I will kill a bruiser between 8-8:30am, guaranteed:nana:

My sits are all or nothing. No climbing down and running to the house for a few hours. I just suck it up and sit all day, might switch stands 2-3 times.

November always has warm spells, so it's nothing new for me. I'll complain about it a few times, then out of nowhere a buck emerges. I'll continue the story after that part of it happens. Don't need to jinx myself more than I already have

    We gun hunt Wayne Co.

I have the second week of November off to hunt our place in SE Indiana. Probably keep it that way this year and maybe next year I will try the first week of Nov just to change it up a bit.

Yeah me and a buddy pulled up to our spot one morning. Wind howling at 20+ MPH and a high of a whole 4 degrees. We looked at each other, looked at the trees blowing......and went to cracker barrel for breakfast ;)

That low pressure system has slowed down a bit for next week. I kight get rained out my first vacation day. Areas east of IL might get rained on Halloween day. Heaviest rains should be southern halves of MO/IL/IN/OH and south. Looks like two lows could develop and have two waves. Might be a windy Halloween. But I should be dry.
