My 14.4 Dewalt handheld drill finally went down after 17 yrs of use. Longest lasting tool I have ever owned. You will be missed little buddy.

Hmmm....ok my Dewalt is on life support. It still has power but thr drill will not engage when I apply pressure. Like something isn't locking into place to create torque.

Mine went out a few months ago and also lasted years and years. I moved to a Milwaukee and haven't looked back, very impressed.

Dewalts are ok. We use them at work but milwaukees are much better IMO. Been trying to tell my boss this for years but he keeps buying Dewalts. We go through probably a dozen a year. The batteries are the junkiest part about them but it makes more sense to just buy a whole new drill rather than the price for new batteries

I thought the world of DeWalt after the one I had been using finally went out. Went to Home Depot and picked up a nice, brand new cordless and the batteries didn't last two weeks. I returned it thinking that I just got a dud and the manager said that she didn't have any more and I assured her that it was fine and I would go to Lowes to see if they had any...she upgrade me $100 for free to the Milwaukee

Was funny to see others saying Milwaukee is the go to drill these days. Did carpentry for 11 years and had Dewalts for 6 of those years. At first they were great drills, got a lot of use out of them, but using them every day nothing lasts forever. The first set I bought lasted me 4 years, which is damn good for what they go through on the job, then the second set I bought gave me nothing but grief with the batteries so I knew I had to try something new. Went with Milwaukee right when they started their new Lithium-Ion batteries and have to say they blow anything away that Dewalt ever made, been going for 4 years without missing a beat.

Using it twice a year to drive a screw in a wall for a picture frame doesn't count. :p Seriously, some brands are better then others but if you use them daily for commercial don't count on them lasting. When I worked construction we were lucky to get a year out of anything battery operated.

I use my Dewalt every day on the job. I get about 2 years out of the drill and 1 year out of the batteries. But like most have said, it's cheaper to just by the whole kit with drill and batteries, then to just buy the batteries.

We beat the piss out of our dewalt drills and impacts, I can't say enough good about them. For the price they can't be beat, and I can promise you they all work the same after falling 25' from a scissor lift!

We did a job for the ceo of Milwaukee tools this year. We weren't allowed to using anything else on the project but Milwaukee. Fine by me, in my opinion they are the best thing out there. I've got a impact/cordless set that has been through hell for a few years now and still works likes new.

I love my dewalts i use them almost everyday and have been the longest lasting drills i have found. I got the new 20v lithium hammerdrill set 2 yrs ago and still going strong. 17 years that is impressive for anything with moving parts
