I want to take a step back and recognize a potential weakness I have. So from square one, discuss some good ways to determine if sign you are finding is nocturnal movement vs. shooting light movement. Is the answer pretty much find their beds and get as close as you can? What about near food source locations? For the sake of discussion, let's say this is public land hunting where you don't want to put a trail cam out.
You really got me to thinking on this one so google had to help me out a little bit and I started reading it. It was a pretty good article I thought so hope it helps! http://www.imbmonsterbucks.com/info.php?id=256
rubs usually indicate direction of travel.about the best you can do is figure out food ,beds, distance between, and sign location.the closest rubs to the beds, facing away from the beds, should be made the earliest inthe afternoon.the closest rubs to the food, facing away frm the food, are probably made very early in the morning.so,theoraticallyif you hunt rublines near bedding that are heading toward bedding inthe early morning you should be in the right place.and visa versa for food in the afternoon..........I think
Cover, eadges....and most importanly...termals will determine which sign is nocturnal and which is not.
