Typical? Of me? Here's the pics that Jeff wanted posted. Shows the after market vibration control pieces that were added by the dealer to the bow. Also shows the ONE bow that he saw when he was at his shop.
I am truly interested in these threads b/c I actually have the money to buy a new bow this year and it is between a Destroyer (not sure which one yet), Sentinel, Reezen, and Monster. I want to shoot them all too, but I am certainly interested in any and all feedback on them before I spend the $. I only get a new bow every 6-10 years, so I want one that I am going to like and will last. Sounds like the cam rubbing isn't a major concern, but why is it "new" with this bow. Couldn't you essentially do that with almost any bow out there is you over rotated the cams?
It's not new with the Destroyer, there are plenty of other bows this can be done with. Check out the pic of the Apex 7 I posted in the previous thread........
Yeah, sorry. The only pics on the site that I can view are the ones that are attached so the little thumbnail shows up at the bottom. Everything else is a red X. Edit: is the in-velvet durable enough if it is wearing off from the cam contacting it once? Again, I can't see the pics, so if it is just a little scuff mark then nevermind. It is a neat finish, but if it is going to wear off my bow over the course of 4-5 years, then I wouldn't want it. However, I do know that finishes are going to wear some.
Here you go......... Basically any bow with an off center cam design for centershot, that has a large profile like this (there are quite a few) is going to have the possibility of this happening.
I wanted the Flex Guard vibration piece pic that you spoke of and you didn't want me to post Flex Guard only pics so I posted all of the pics you sent per your request.
You see, Ben.....ALL I asked you is (given your reputation as a die-hard supporter of your bow choice) ....to post ALL the photos, if you're gonna post "some" of them. You could've posted the flex guard pics on your wall (and kept them ALL out of the public's eye) and it wouldn't affect me in the least. It makes for a better objective atmosphere (when we post the good with the ........others). The shalacking the folks who've posted their photos (here and elsewhere) is abundantly evident.....and I have NO IDEA WHY. I understand folks being proud of their bow choices. But when objectivity is thrown out the window in its' wake........then I think that starts to smell.
All I'm gonna say is there ain't no way in hell that bow left the factory Sims anything on it let alone two (or any) dampeners on the FLX Guard.
I don't think I said it did......because it doesn't matter, to me. If I was associated in any way with BT...I'd wonder why someone felt the need to put them on there. And like I said (re: the other photos).....that's the only one he had in the shop. So...that's the one I photo'd.
You're right, you didn't directly say it but you did in a round about way when you said; How would ANYONE other than the person that put them on there know why? The ONLY one that would know is the person that did it and unless they visit these boards none of us would know why...
Pat... Sorry man. You lost me. I have no idea what you're trying to say. When I saw the bow (340) in the shop....I figured it was "factory". I thought that was a great idea. Hence my Q as to why it wasn't on the 350. If I owned one....I'd be looking for something to dampen that roller arm vibration, too. And, you could always ask Ben why he's going to add something, there (for reference).
Jeff, you spent enough time in the "compound" world and the archery scene in general to ID the dampeners on that bow as nonstock. If that's not true, it would be the first time that I under estimated you. For Ben's answer to why he is going to add something: The reason I am adding the Sims insulating strip is due the fact that it (the bow) is so dead in the hand that you do feel the slightest vib at the end of the shot. Put the Flex Guard on an Ally or better yet, when your shop gets the Black Ice in, shoot it. I bet it doesn't have more noticeable vibrations in it. It's really a testiment to how dead the bow is.
Just chalk it up to my lack of caring. If I was the least bit interested in either of these bows (or, to be fair, ANY compound), I'd verse myself better on them. It could have had pink strings and I wouldn't have thought twice about it. I don't shoot enough compounds any more to know how "dead" one is from ALL the rest (I shoot VERY few of them, anymore....and never outside the shop). All I know about the Destroyer is.....I can SEE the roller guard arm vibrating after I shoot it. Hence my agreement with you that something needs to go on there. I shoot these new bows when I'm in the shop, just to see what the market's doing. I still have folks asking me what the best bows are out there. Rather than tell them "I don't give a damn about the compound world" (which would actually be true), I shoot the ones that seem to be drawing the most attention.....and tell 'em what I think of 'em. I've shot the new Mathews; the Hoyts (AM's) and I'll likely shoot the "rest" when I see them. I'd give a review of the ones I shot......but with the atmosphere here, I'd likely get flamed by one side or the other for simply offering an opinion. "Objectivity" seems to have gone by the wayside in these realms.........and opinions get shot down like a fat chick in Vegas, based on brand loyalty.
