Anyone out there on some insight?
I tried checking it out online, but the only one they keep listing is PennFoster.
I checked it out, and well,,, It seems too good to be true. My first thought is that you would get this so called degree, and end up getting laughed out of interviews.

I have always been interested in wildlife, zoology, etc. I don't want to be a vet though. I actually want to try to go with the wild animals area of this. I did try looking at NC state, but their website isn't cooperating with me tonight.

Anyone out there with any insight on this?

Originally I planned on going Law Enforcement, but that just seemed to be the wrong path for me.

My friend went to school in Maine for parks and recreational management. He came back when he graduated, and took a series of law enforcement courses, and plans to become a WCO, or a state trooper. Right now he's working for the PGC trapping and studying whitetails in north central PA.

I think if I would have done it over again and not chosen teaching, I would have gone this route. I would much rather work outside even if the pay isn't as good (I'm a teacher, my pay isn't that great either:d )

I think I may have already talked to you a bit about this.

I went to college for wildlife biology. Lack of money and a bad dose of sucky reality kept me from following through. I did do some interesting intern work. Enough to tell you that working outside can bite. ;)

I think it could be really rewarding but also very thankless. Job security is iffy and the pay isn't all that hot. However, doing something that makes you happy is very important.

Working outside is what I need. Even in crappy weather, my ADD kicks my arse indoors. I need outside.

I didn't know that, Christine. How many years did you go?

What did you do for an internship, I'm looking for a good one right now.

My roomates, all buisness majors, tell me that I'm going to be counting pine needles all day :hater: 's. :d

I have a degree in Environmental Science. There are lots of Federal, state and private agency's out there. Not sure how the online degree's work but if the school is accredited(sp?), you might be good to go.

If you want a degree in WM, and you don't want to work for a government agency, you better atleast get your Masters. I would recommend going for your Doctorate, as well.

I got my degree in Environmental Science, had many classes with the Wildlife Management guys. Not many have jobs like they imagined they would get out of college. There are ALOT of country boys would think "Man, that sounds like my dream job" that are getting degrees in Wildlife Management. In order to make yourself more desirable, obtain atleast a Masters.
