i only started using trail cams this summer. From aug. 4th-aug.19th i got 4 pics of a nice buck that i want to kill very badly, then no more as of yet. how many pics of a deer passing by your cam do you say he is patterned? if the same deer does the same thing once a week, daily or every couple of weeks? What do you guys think? i was getting him on route to a soybean field, but the beans have started to turn and im sure they are abandoning them for acorns. i am thinking i should abandon the beans and head to the oaks with the cams.
I call 2-3 days in a row a pattern. With season started here in Kentucky I check mine every 5 days as that information is crucial in being in the right spot for success.
I have found out that the only pattern about mature bucks is ...There is no pattern, right now the acorns are falling and the deer can and will bed close to them but as far as crops here being taken out and people scouting all over the fields and woods every weekend my trailcams pics have dropped at least 60 percent and alot of those are nighttime pics only so times are every changing always be thinking what the next stage is or next crops to be combined and get ahead of it. All cams do tell me if a mature buck is in my area what trails he prefers over others but when he uses them will depend on many factors alot of my pics are from 1 day a week sometimes morning, noon, cover of dark. If it was easy everyone would do it.
