I was scouting the other day at a spot along a logging road on public land that I had hunted 3 years ago. The last time I was there there were lots of rubs, most notably a big one that seemed to tell the deer community that the big boss was around. I also saw a couple of does about 70 yards away that day, but they moved away from me. I was amazed at how the road, basically unused, is now overgrown with tall grass and shrubs. This overgrowth should provide good cover for me as I hunt this deery area this season. Not only that, but the grass on the road will allow me to walk in quieter than before when gravel was a factor. If the wind is in my favor, this will be my first hunting area to try this year.
