If it walked past me, I'd pass for meat and its no trophy. I also probably would've followed up with the state DNR or a biologist if showed up on trail cams. I'd have to see its mobility or lack there of for any form of a mercy kill.

At first I thought it was those deer warts, but then I saw his eye (or lack there of).

Man, I don't think he would last long in the woods up here...

    Ookie!

I'd shoot it. That neoplasm over/in it's eye is what makes me want to put it down. (...shiver...)

I had pics of a doe about five years ago with a similar growth on its eye, got pics all fall then in early winter it was gone. Got pics of it with the hair matted down where the growth was. After that I had no identifiable markings to keep track if her so who knows what ended up with her. I'd let him walk and see what happens.

okay...some of you are on the right track. Dr Grant Woods said that this deer has Fibromas, the most common abnormal growth on a deer. However, he did say that the fibromas on this deer are worse than normal. They pose no threat to the overal population, and the only risk to this deer is potential blindness in the eye that is covered. That being said I would still shoot this deer to put it out of its misery. i sure wouldnt want to walk around like that!

Looks pretty hungry too, I'd be really tempted to take him out of season if it was my place.

I wouldn't think twice about taking him out of the heard and donating the meat to PETA, but I'm in IL and we get 2 buck tags a season. But I couldn't let any creator suffer in front of me, not even a yote. It brings me no joy to see suffering of any kind. Unless it was a terrorists then suffering is ok. Hey can we inject that sickness into insurgents and make them look like that? That would be kinda cool.

I would have mixed feelings about putting it down. I would not want any animal to suffer but, I also don't agree with interfering with nature. Mother nature is a *****.

contact your dnr and do what they say.
