Has anyone ever seen this before? What a sad sight it was in person. I'm curious as what your thoughts are on this. Deer suffers gruesome death article (click here) Nature is beautiful, but it can go the other way in a hurry.
That makes dieing from a hunters arrow or bullet seem very humane. Looks like the scavengers finished the job.
Great point John. Just wish the PETA people saw it that way. I guess it just slipped? I can't imagine a coyote dragging it out that far?
If a deer falls on the ice and gets it's front legs splayed out, it's unlikely to be able to get back up. They seem to suffer some sort of subluxation of the shoulder and can only flail about. One that same note every Spring, when we hit the water for our ice breaker bowfishing outings, we find deer remains. I think most that we find have fallen through the ice or perhaps were otherwise injured and died near/in the water. Kind of a bummer.
