Every year as the days inch closer to opening season, I start having nightmares. Usually it's along the lines of not being prepared, my bow breaking as soon as I see one in my shooting lane or drawing back, or the deer bring their own bows and start shooting at me.

Last night had a dream it was the rut for one day, and we woke up passed sunrise and were rushing to catch the evening hunt, we were so unprepared; we watched the sunset on our hunting season from our driveway.

    Anyone experience these?

No I have not, you may want to talk to a mental health professional to get your dreams analyzed to get to your deep seeded feeling of failure.

Cant say that I have OP. But if you feel these are becoming a problem we can find you a good doctor.

If failing at deer hunting is your biggest concern, I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about it. Just be prepared and you eliminate that variable.

I'm not a professional yet, but the dreams you are describing are perfectly normal. Over stimulated brain cells thinking about hunting!!

I'm scared to death of heights. I have dreams quite often of being up in the treestand and falling. Instead of falling to the ground, my harness somehow becomes a large swing and I'm swinging from tree to tree.

Obvious that you are not a professional yet, by the time you are done with school your analysis will be different You will tie his dreams into feeling like he is failing his mother and questioning the gender assigned at birth.

Haha, every time I have a dream about being unprepared for something I realize that I am feeling stressed or overly obsessed about something. Which only begs the question "Is it possible to spend too much time thinking about bowhunting...?" I'll let everyone else weigh in on that.

I don't like heights either, I used to think I was just that excited to hunt when I climbed up in the tree and that made my heart pound, till the day I did a sunrise sit and I knew I would not see a damn thing and my heart was still pounding.

Hey brother you are not alone I have had similar dreams. Just means you are concentrating on whats to come. But remember we do this because we love it. It shouldn't stress you out unless you are getting paid to do it. :tu:

So true! I find myself perfectly fine climbing up in my climber in the dark morning, but when the sunrises, I'm almost to afraid to stand up, let alone lean into the front railing for a shot! That's probably why i post so much in the live from the stand thread, to keep my mind off of how high up I am!

I was shooting a big buck and no matter how many arrows I put in the damn thing he wouldn't die, he just stood there looking at me like he was taunting me and saying "eff you, ya can't do squat".
I decided I really hate GlenDel.

Still replay a buck i made a bad shot on and never found. It was the first time i connected on a deer with a bow.
Started bow hunting later in life for the fear of wounding and losing a deer. Then i actually did it. This was two seasons ago. I passed up on a oppertunity to redeem myself last yr on a small buck at 17 yards. Dont know if i just wanted a bigger deer or fear of wounding him,or a mix of both.
