I picked some of my cam's yesterday and had two or three does with what looked like significant hair loss...some of them carrying fawns with them still. It seems to be across their entire body in patches. I have to shrink them to get them posted...but am headed off to church in a few and didn't want to forget to post/ask this. Anyone else seeing anything like this? Haven't been around much, changed jobs last year and its keeping me pinned down - you taxpayers are getting your money worth from me and my Marines at my new command. Sean
I think that is what it is...winter coat coming in. This is my first year using game camera's since I usually hunt on base and didn't use them, so I have never seen this before. By the time bow season starts, I am guessing they usually have their winter coat on. Thanks! Sean
Winter coat most likely as others have said. Other possibilities could be extreme parasites/pests or disease. Ticks, Mange or Deer Hair Loss Syndrome (DHLS) would be the likely next candidates, though DHLS seems to be primarily in the NW US.
