I have been the first girl to hunt with this group of guys. They have traditions, but I did not have to do any of them.
I still have the same hunting knife my dad gave me when i was 12 and started hunting (38yrs ago). Everytime after gutting a deer i stick the bloody knife in its quiver and then take it out and clean it off. He taught me this saying i am carrying the animal with me in honor of it's life that i took from it.
Isn't this standard with every deer? Unless it was my daughter or wife, any dude in my camp who asks me to gut or drag their deer out owes me a case of beer and will be called until next season. I will HELP drag, but not drag it FOR them.
