I'm looking for a deer hunting book to make myself a better hunter. I've hunted all my life but want to get better since I want to start bowhunting. I live and hunt in Louisiana and we have a lot of different types of terrain and I've hunted in all of them. River bottoms, farm land, piney hills and a mix of all of them. Any suggestions for books? Thanks.
Bowhuntings Whitetail Masters, by dan bertalan ...still to this day I get a lot from those old boys featured in that book, they did it year in and out the old fashion way.. Some of the guys in that book are a little over hyped ...but many of those guys really know their stuff and today are living legends.. that book was published back in the early 90s.. its the only book I have other than the bible that I can re-read and get more meaning or something new out of those whitetail hunters every time. good luck in your adventures
Mapping Trophy Bucks by Brad Herndon, Come November by Gene Wensel and Precision Bowhunting by John and Chris Eberhart are some of my favorites.
A few that I have that I would recommend: Bowhunting Mega Bucks - Michael Hanback Strategic Whitetail Hunting - Tim Hooey Stand-Hunting Real-World Tactics for Today's Trophy Whitetails - Steve Bartylla
I just picked up Giant Whitetails A Lifetime of Lessons by the Drury Brothers tonight. So far its a great book.
Whitetail Strategies by Charlie Alsheimer is my favorite. Another vote for Mapping Trophy Bucks. Way of the Whitetail and The Deer of North America by Leonard Lee Rue III. Also look into books by Steve Chapman, not so much for improving your hunting skills, but from a devotional standpoint, it is really hard to beat
I bought Mapping Trophy Bucks yesterday, Saturday. Will start reading it as soon as I have time. Thanks for the suggestions.
