SUPERIOR, Wis. (AP) - Authorities in northern Wisconsin say a deer hunter who was killed this week was apparently shot when his hunting buddy fired at a deer and missed. The Douglas County sheriff's department identified the victim as 27-year-old Garrett M. Carr of Oliver. Authorities say Carr was hunting Monday with 31-year-old Michael F. Thompson of Superior. Warden Dave Zebro says a preliminary investigation suggests that Thompson fired at a deer but the bullet hit Carr in the head.
Such a shame that these stories seem to pop up every year. I understand that occasionally freak accidents happen but it seems to me that so many of these "accidents" definitely could be avoided with more education in proper hunting techniques and practices. Its such a shame that these things happen as often as they do. My condolences to the families.
