I am heading out to hunt with a good buddy of mine. Its firearms season here, but I'll be hunting with my bow today. The 11 point here was shot out of the stand I'll be sitting in this morning. The other is a picture of my buddy with his deer this year. Apparently there is a buck out here that has "points going everywhere". Maybe I'll get chance at him today. Either way it'll be nice to get out in the woods with my childhood friend. Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
LOL NY .... you guys that hunt with bows are nothing but pansies ... you really wanna be a hunter, use a rope :D
Posting up for my nephew ... he killed this big old girl today ... his brother who is home on leave for a few weeks and my bro Slabcrappy pushed this strip of junk and this ole girl slinked out and David picked her up at 50 yards and took care of business ... the farmer told me about a lame doe that seemed fine until she ran ... turns out this was her ... and she was totally healthy sans the messed up leg
Congrats on all the deer fellas. I am itching to join the action. 1 week from today. As poor as my archery season was, I am hoping the gun season provides a lot more action and deer on the ground.
Had a 140" 8 around me most of the morning, and when this guy stepped out at 80 yards, I thought it was him. Oops! Fun hunt none the less, and he'll taste just fine!
No picture, but I was able to take a nice doe yesterday. What a relief. It's been a tough season this year, I've been in the woods 17 full days so far (mostly with a bow) and haven't seen a shooter buck yet and wasn't even able to get a doe close enough during bow season because I was so focused on buck stands. At least I have one in the freezer now and can focus on putting some antlers down. I've got trail cam pics, sheds, and last years patterns on 3x really good bucks but just haven't been able to put the pieces together yet. Hopefully soon.
A buddy gave me a ML this offseason. I wasn't able to get anything down with it during early ML here but our firearms starts this Saturday. I hope to make it happen then. My bow season started out pretty crappy but it has gone very well since then. Hopefully my luck with the ML will be good now too. Time to break out the treelounge LOL.
Took this buck that I have had pics of all summer long. He lost his G3 and so I didn't recognize him at first but sure enough this is him. He scored 129" with a broken G3 but he is still a very mature buck and I was happy to get him. This is also the first year that my little girl went hunting with me. All we saw were two does but it sparked her interest. It is definitely a memory that I will never forget and I hope she won't either. I'll be glad after this rifle season is over and I can get back at it with the bow. The orange army has done it's number around my property walking the ditches and just blowing scent all over the place, so it'll be really tough trying to get one down but I'm always up for trying.
View attachment !cid__Image002.jpg Sorry for the chitty pic, it was getting late and I realized I hadn't taken a pic yet :D
i didn't take any pics, but I shot a knub buck, had little 1 inch spikes, he was the 8th deer i saw sat. morning and I shot him at about 7:40, I was going to let him pass, but he stood around too long and ate apples and gave me a broadside shot at under 20 yards, I got trigger happy. But it is a good freezer filler, I needed some venison.
Great pics everyone! Ryan, looking forward to the pistol pics with the deer you kill I must say, my favorite pic so far is Pat with his gun .... ... now if the deer was only a 6 pointer .... :D
Here's a freezer stuffer I took my old sidehammer on opening weekend of Tenn. blackpowder. And my Dad took this 148" 4 year old the following Sunday. The biggest buck he's ever taken.
