Was curious what was some of the most ridiculous gimmicks in any kind of hunting whether it was for whitetail, elk, bear, moose, caribou etc. that you have ever heard. I've heard of some good ones but i found a kind of dumb one when i went over to just browse the Lost Camo stuff and they made a clamp that holds a limb to a tree where one wouldn't normally be for mock scraps or trying to entice a buck to make one himself but why would i want to buy something that is $20-30 when i can just find a tree that already has a low lying branch.

    Whitetail'R make's the "Lick'n Branch" :tu:

There are many out there. My favorite is the "deer call" that mimics the sound of the deer chewing acorns....

Here it is! Two calls, one mimicking the sound of a deer fart, the other of deer poop hitting the ground....

Am I the only one that finds these things extremely useful when field dressing an animal?

Ya that's what i was talking about Fitz. i don't really see a point in a lick'n branch when you can find one the good lord provides for ya naturally. i laughed so hard when i read what you posted about the deer chewing acorns.

Idiots I don't understand why anyone would post a video like that on the Internet period. I just don't get it a bunch of guys hacking up an animal. No regard for the kill at all. Perfect example of what the leftist love to throw in our faces.

i think in that video posted by bowbender it was supposed to be a misguided attempt at field dressing a deer tacklebox. Now i will say they disgraced that poor deer carcass by ramming that piece of plastic up in his rectum, i wouldn't do that to my worst enemy.

Pat and I saw a guy selling stuff that looked just like a fake christmas tree wrapped around a ground blind for concealment two years ago at the Iowa show...had to be the most ridiculus thing I have seen.

I understand what it was and none of my comments were directed by Bowbender. I also don't have an issue with the butt out tool. Don't use one but could care less if anyone else does. My issue was with the morons in the video and the way they playfully hacked at the deer. Maybe it's just me but I found it to be crude and IMO not the image of "hunters" that I like to see.

    For people like me.

If it weren't for YouTube, I would not have been able to clean my first deer properly nor known how. I didn't have the luxury o knowing deer hunters to learn from. Guess I just shouldn't have had the right to hunt then or maybe since its legal, I should have been able to but, hacked the animal all to pieces trying to learn?

As for the tool, I have found it helpful.

Back on subject. C'meer Deer. The biggest gimmick I have witnessed, well, actually used. I'm quite convinced it may work in some areas but, not others. Acted like a deer repellant here.

EDIT: I see your point now. They were doing it in a playful, not instructive manner.
