guys this post I believe should be discussed at length as I feel this is a subject that does not imho get talked about enough..now I do rifle hunt..as im sure many of you guys do as well..so my question is, when the heavy artillery starts booming in November, how can a guy/gal figure out escape corridors for those deer he is hunting..say for instance I hunt the majority of my time on a heavy hunted wma here in ky that is right on a huge lake..now when the corp of engineers drop the lake in late October the deer go wild and its not hard at all to find where they cross..but would/will they abandon those routes and have a different route of escape when the first rifle goes off or is escape routes just a crapshoot and hope you get lucky...I look forward to the answers/opinions..
Where I rifle hunt in WI, we often try and set up on escape route. In that area, most are along the edges of thick cover or swamp. I've found that to be the highest concentration for pushes or bumped deer. They also like to cross water (creeks rivers) if they are feeling pursued. In reality, it's hard to narrow down "escape routes" because the beginning of the route is always changing. You never know when someone will bump into a deer. So my strategy has always been finding where they want to escape to.
hmmm...well fitz sure as shootin makes sense to me..so your saying, that if you know where THEY WILL WANT TO ESCAPE TO YOU STAND A BETTER CHANCE OF INTERCEPTING THEM..
