Buddy of mine shot a doe today and it ran about 60 yards and then fell down a cliff 100 yards...big doe might i add it was prob around 130-140 - we tied a rope to a tree and jumped right on down...now when i say a cliff i mean u can walk down but only with a rope...it has a slight angle...with no rope you would be just straight sliding down...so we jumped down tied a rope around her head and pulled her front 2 legs up to her head and tied her legs and her head all at one...went up to the tree that was only about 30 yards from the doe un tied it and just swung the rope around the tree so i can walk back down to him to use my weight while he tryed to drag the deer we went about 1 foot at a time. so everytime he picked up to drag her i would use my weight and climb down. it was absolutly amazing we got her out. took us 3 hours to go 100 yards. leaving her down there was not an option...just letting other people no nothing is imposible if u set ur mind to it...just need a buddy and some rope...lol

Should have boned her out where she lay and roped the pack full of meat up. It'd have cut the load in half. That's an everyday deal here in the mountains. Congrats on getting her out, I know it wasn't easy!

Yeah, probably should have cut her up right there. I have been some places in the mountains that I would really think twice about shooting an elk. Of course I would shoot it and then cuss myself out for the next two days while packing it out!

Had a similar situation last year no rope we would grab the mountain Laurel that was above us and pull up with the doe in toe it sucked. I think it was the Doe' way of trying to kill me.
