Used deer cane in one of my areas and was getting pics every day at that mineral site. When I went in two weeks after starting it I took another jug and put in the same spot. Now that spot has become inactive. Can you use too much deer can or mineral substance to make the spot inactive and if so will it activate back up?

your scent probably made it inactive. the deer were already patterned to go there. When they came back to visit the sight, your human scent was all over. I'm guessing they said no thanks after that. However, they should return eventually if they actually need the minerals.

I have a deer cane spot behind the house here, they will go to it for a while then stop. After a few weeks they start using it again, I haven't freshened that spot in two years and they still use it.

Not so sure on my scent. Its on public land so I put a cam out there. I even put a lock and chain and spray painted the lock and chain out on site. When pulled my SD card two weeks later. The deer were in there 2 hours later. I went to a different location and put in a ladder stand and another spot of deer cane. Put my camera up and had deer in that location a few hours later. I have had deer in the location of my ladder stand every day since I have put that spot in and have not put anymore deer cane in there. So to mee it doesn't seem like my scent is bothering them all that much. We will see. Im going this evening in that area to climb so I'm looking forward to pulling my SD card.

Dane cane is over 90% salt they will stop using it this time of year. An actual mineral they will use year round.

I find it odd that you see the stuff on the shelves in Fall instead of the Spring when it needs to be put out.

I find it ridiculous this stuff along with others is legal to sell in states like IN that can't use the stuff 10 days from and on into the season...I'm with Pat though, use something that isn't just salt! We use Monsterraxx in one spot only, due to acre size and the fact we have to dig it up every year.
