I had a Primos Hardwood grunter call and I lost the O-Ring a while ago and in attempt to fabricate a new one I broke the reed. I did not like the call anyways because it was very difficult to change from a grunt to a bleat or vice versa in a hurry. Needless to say I need a new call in the next few weeks. I have some experience with the True Talker and I really liked that you didn't have to take it apart to change call types. But what do you recommend for a new call? Do you carry a grunt/bleat-in-one, or seperate calls, or what?

I am interested in this trhead also. I can't remember the brand right off hand of mine but it is a big pain in the ars to take it apart while sitting on stand.

I've been using a Flextone call for several years now and I can honestly say it's been the most effective grunt call I've used. I picked it up just because of the all rubber construction and being smaller than the others. For some reason, the deer in my area respond to this call much better than any I've used in the past. I actually just bought a spare in case I can't find them anymore.

I have a Flextone call as well and it is my new favorite call. It's the Bone Collector model and I chose that because it also has the snort wheeze chamber. It's got good tone, easy to vary the volume, and multiple calls are easily made in succession. Very simple to use and sounds good. What more do you need?

I've been using an HS True Talker with relatively good success, but have considered a Flextone for this year as well.

I think there is very little difference between the two really. They both work on the same concept and have good tone. Unless you're getting one free or changing sponsors I'd really see no need to switch. Then again, if you're a gear junkie like me then you won't be able to help yourself.

I have a lot of calls. Flextone, True Talker, Primos, .... I think the best is the Primos Buck Roar. You can get load and soft with it with no problems + it has a good snort wheeze. I also keep a True Talker as a back up in my bag. I had some problems with the Flextone snort wheeze. On mine you have to blow on it just right or it sounds like junk

I have a flextone. I like the sound however, when it gets cold and with gloves on it can be a pain to operate. You have to press certain areas on the reed to change the tone.
I think they have a new one out that has 3 chambers instead of 2. I would prefer this, just for that reason.

I'm not sure that I'd use the buck wheeze feature too much. That's a little too aggressive for my calling style. I just need a simple grunt/bleat call. Will I find this in the Flextone model? But the again I've always been the rather-have-it-and-not-need-it type so maybe the wheeze will open some options?

    Calls

    Hey rampaige-
me again. Like you have heard, use the flextone bone collector. You can vary it for the area and the aggresiveness of the deer you are hunting
