Anyone have experience with growing beans in a Woods I'm guessing they will have around 6 hours of sunlight a day will that be enough to produce?
Deep woods....and 6 hours? Truly 6 hours of un-interrupted no canopy covering sunlight could probably produce beans...however even if that is true how big of spot we talking? Beans need tons of light and can be decimated in smaller plot settings. I've avoided them for the most part due to none of my plots being an acre in size at minimum...this will be our first year using them on the acreage I bought last spring due to now having ample space and pure uninterrupted sunlight.
Size is a real factor as tini said. Beans love sunlight as well as wind blowing through them which means open spaces usually. I rely on clover and winter rye, oats or wheat in my woods plots. 6 hours of light is great.
If its a smaller plot you will be better served by the mix that elkguide recommends. Sure you might be able to get them to grow but unless you fence them it might be hard to tell.
If the deer ever let them get going, white mold will end them.... I wouldn't think you would have much success.
