The more I deer hunt, the more I draw similarities and differences with other aspects of life. The latest that I thought of this morning. Deer hunting is like diet and exercise. We all approach it in different ways. Have varied success. And its hard. There are fads, "Quick fixes", traditions, gimmicks, etc, etc. Some of us are meat and potato hunters. Nothin' fancy, that's what I've always done, that's what my father did, and what my father's father did. Some of us are fast food hunters. Quick and convenient, time is of the essence. Some of us are hip Italian Japanese Fusion Cafe hunters. Trendy, high quality, sometimes high price. Some of us are Fitness & Diet fanatic hunters. Logging every calorie, every mile on the treadmill, learning how my body digests every bit of protein. Some of us change from season to season, trying new things, trying to constantly better ourselves. Some of us have found what works for us, and if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Some of us find success, and some don't. Some will be happy @ 250# or 160#, others won't. Truth is, as I've said in many other posts, we all approach it differently. We all have different goals and varied amounts of success and knowledge. Many of us naturally feel that our way is best, and it might be for us, but not the next guy. That's what makes hunting (and this site) so great. We share our successes, our failures, celebrate our similarities and debate our differences, but when push comes to shove, we're all just a bunch of guys and gals that love to hunt.
