No, I am not, LOL It's not really a golf analogy, which is why you and Atlas are struggling with it. It's about how humans(us men) react when we do a task and get better results then our avgerage. We tend to care a bit more about the outcome. Example a guy who shoots in the 90's breaks 80 for the first time. Who gives a rat ass about talent, or what course he played on. It's how he reacts and how now there is more importants to his score. Same with deer hunting, I agree with you, I agree with Atlas, most don't care. Until they kill one with size and then to "THEM" the score/size matters. I have worked 10 years at check stations and buck poles here in MI. You to keep talking about talent and all that other BS, when you want to come back to reality let me know I am just talking about how we react.
Lol yeah I suppose there may be something to that. I just do my thing and go about my business. Hunting, golf, work, pretty much everything in life. I let the results speak for me. For the record I really dont' give a crap about score. Actually I dont' think I've ever actually scored a buck I shot. I've posted pics here for input and guesses just out of curiousity. Doesn't really mean anything to me though. I set a goal of a 3.5year old or 120ish buck and won't shoot anything less. I admittedly am not the best at judging score, but I have a pretty good idea of what one looks like in the woods (and from scouting). If he came in 118 it wouldnt' ruin my parade. My decision to shoot is based on the OH @*&% that's a big buck factor. However I have absolutely no problem with anyone that is into the scoring in detail. Hey if that's your thing and you're hung up on overall inches, gross, net, whatever than so be it. Doesn't effect me at all. Personally I dont' use it as a tool to compare myself to anyone else or anyone elses buck. Could really care less. If I know it's a BIG buck for my neck of the woods I'm shooting it and being happy about it. And probably never score it.
So....If I told you I've shot 11-under, before (18 holes)..........your contention is....I'm that good? Difficulty of the course wouldn't factor in?
Boy, this has been a good read! From reading his posts - Jeff used to be a golf maniac. I'm sure he was/is good. If he told me that his drive was "far"...I'd be intrigued, if not a little doubting. But if he told me that he drove the ball "325 yards"....that puts numeric value and relation to my experiences with and around the great game of golf. That's the only thing scoring is used for......relation to past experiences. ANYONE who says that people don't score their deer (whether via tape measure or eye balls...and honestly, for us "gross" guys...what's the difference) has been smoking too much peyote... EDIT- Jeff, just used your name because it came to mind, no other reason.
LOL Who cares, LOL Fact you told me means it must mean something to you That's the point. I don't care what you shoot, unless there is money on the line
Haha...I still can't touch that! But still, that adds even more accuracy to my point. "down hill, and wind-aided" could be akin to "in IL" or "9in G4's "
Nope. 2 eagles, 7 birdies. No bogies. The point is.....unless you know the details,........it means nothing. If you knew them.......you'd throw the "location" angle at me....lol.
Playstation..I can go 21 under..and Putt Putt...well thats another story. PS ... 325 if you're talking "carry"...it's competitive
I used to be the world's greatest at Tiger Woods on PS2. Unstoppable. Really has nothing to do with this thread...I'm just sayin.
Nope, boys....this was played on a golf course, outdoors......and it was the second time I'd ever stepped foot on it (and haven't, since). Course is 4-5mi. from my house.....and it's not a par 3 course.. I mean, really......-11 is -11, right? Should I blow sunshine up my ass? Infer you're not working hard enough? Infer you're not the golfer I am....if you're not shooting that, where you play? Or.....should I just admit it was a charity tournament......played from the ladies tees? FWIW.....we still played skins, and I won almost $600. p.s. The par 3 course would have been MORE impressive.
