For some reason I've just had more luck with a doe decoy. It promotes interest in both bucks and does to come check it out. Put a little doe pee with it and you have a deadly combination. Just make sure to put it in an open area so the deer can approach it slowly. If they just stumble upon it and they are too close they will likely spook. Field edges work the best IMO.

Thinking about a cut bean field edge that I might hunt on Thursday. It will keep me out of two stands that I know I shouldn't be in with that wind.

I am thinking about breaking out the buck decoy here in a week or so probably. Got it sitting out in the weather getting as scent free as possible, been out for about a month now.

Man Ben I just read an article in my Georgia Sportsman magazine about deer decoys. I haven't used decoys while deer hunting, but thought the article was really good. I looked for the article on their site, but I think it is in the current issue and not posted up there yet.

A buck decoy this time of year. Does will usually avoid them right now, and not bust your step up, but a dominant buck may come in for a fight.

Have no interest in does, shot two for the freezer already. I am thinking because Rob will likely be filming, I will put out a Rob buck half rack 6 point. :)

Remember that a buck will always approach the buck decoy from the front, so you want to make sure you properly position it somewhat quartering towards you, that way the buck will circle back around in front of you between you and the decoy presenting you with a broadside shot.

Has anyone tried to use their foam deer 3D target as a decoy? I put mine out and sprayed it down with dominant buck. Had 3 deer come by and check it out.

I haven't used my 3-D buck for a decoy but I have proof that it will work. I had it set up 30 yrds. from my garage for target practice woke up one morning and thought man it must have been windy last night cause the target was all over the place. Then I thought maybe a buck had tore it up because I had seen them in the yard on occasion. Sure enough there was tracks all around the area. Kinda frustrating thinking about all the hours I spend in the woods and then he comes knocking on my door.

No action tonight on the decoy front. Won't have it back out the next two days as I will be on travel routes.
