I will keep on keeping on until I run out of money or can't hunt anymore. I don't have any desire to hunt the exotics, so there's no need to save money for that. Whitetails is my passion ****sorry, screwy phone****
Thanks for all your input guys. It's too late now but I kinda wish I would have gotten it mounted. I'll do my euro of it as I really love that look, so all is not lost. Plus i am attempting to tan the hide myself so that's another "momento I'll have. Because I'm not a real flintlock hunter, I was just going on overall size to decide if this buck was worthy of a shoulder mount.
I've only had 3 mounted. It only is a must for one more for me. The wife said I would never get to put one in the living room. Well one made it in there and it was her idea. There is a spot on the other side of the wall just begging for another big buck mount. I will fill that spot before I die. Tim
Going into this year, any gross P&Y buck made it to the taxi. I have my first buck with a bow mounted. (117"). 2 years later I killed my biggest at the time during gun season. (120") 2 years after that I sat out to kill a tight rack 9 pointer and did so. He made it to the wall. (120ish") '09 I killed a very special buck. Not only was he my biggest, but it had been a tough year for me. He will always be my #1 buck. (155") Then this year I killed my 2nd P&Y buck. He grossed 129, and I was hesitant to get him mounted, but I did. With 5 heads already, I may go to a 135-140+ to mount one in the future with a bow. For gun, it would have to be 140+.
I only have one mounted. It was the first buck taken off our property. I should have mounted my first bow kill, but had a euro done instead. If I feel like getting that buck mounted, I will. If not, he'll be getting a Euro. My daughters first buck will get mounted and if my wife shoots one, it probably will to.
