Assuming money is no issue, what goes into your decision to get a buck mounted? Is t solely based on size? Does weapon or circumstance play into it?. I am having regrets about not mounting the buck I just shot with a flintlock. It was my 1st with said weapon on the 1st hunt. It's the 4th ranking buck by size, I already have 4 mounted. But as time passes I think i should have.

If I shoot it I mount it otherwise I don't shoot it. But that's just me.

If it was a mature buck, and there is a story behind it...like.....oh, it was my first flintlock buck on my first hunt with it ... it would be on my wall ;)

Yeah, that buck you shot would of been on the wall for sure, my first buck with my Flinter is going on the wall!

A lot goes into it for me, my first deer period with my Longbow was going on the wall, what ever it was going to be, already made the decision, turned out to be a little 6 pointer that looks great on my wall, every time I look at it I see him walking down the trail!

I'll never mount another one regardless of size. Putting a deer head on the wall doesn't do anything for me, i'm completely content with just the horns. I would rather spend $500 on other items such as a new gun, bow, etc. The ones that i do have mounted were my 1st buck and 1st nice buck with a bow.

    Kid's first buck.
Kid's kill a big buck... bow or rifle. If a smaller buck, it would depend on how bad they wanted it mounted.

Me... it has to be a big buck for bow. It would have to a really big buck with rifle or one I had a lot of history with.

All my bucks get some sort of justice whether it be a euro mount or shoulder. I have not yet mounted a buck shoulder mount yet. I set a goal of 140+ for shoulder mount, just my personal choice, but then again I like my euros!

I have zero interest in accumulating 20+ mounts of the exact same animal.

It will take a 150+ for me to mount another...and then something substantially bigger than that. Euros will do from now on for whiteys, still get to admire the rack size for 1/5 the cost.

I can do an out of state hunt for the price of one deer head to be mounted these days.

I think antlers are cool, but not a big fan of shoulder mounts. Euro mounts aren't bad. I don't know what it would take for me to want to get a shoulder mount. I really don't think I ever would.

Yeah I would have mounted lol. But, to answer your question...for me, Im like a lot of the other guys. Im not shooting unless Im willing to invest in it at this point. If nothing else, at least have t be willing to do like a camo dip euro. I love mounts so if money was no object I would mount almost all my kills...but a few euros just to break it up a bit of course. I currently only have 2 buck kills. My first buck ever is mounted, and my first with a bow will be euro camo dipped (havent had the money to get it dipped yet). Wish I mounted it though, even though its not the biggest. Did you euro that buck? If you just skull capped it, yoiu can still get a fake euro...like many do with sheds. And you can get them in pretty cool dips adding a lot to the display.

The last two bucks, including this years are euro mounted. I want my next shoulder mount to be larger than my 09 buck. However, since I've never taken a buck witha FL, if I shot a buck like that, it's getting mounted :D

Didn't see this the first time, but I agree. My wife wants more mounts other than whitetails, and I don't blame her.

If I'm going to mount a buck allot of things could be a factor In mounting It- Inches, history with buck, how the hunt went down, character of the buck, etc.

I have 10 whitetails shoulder mounted. I now have killed several that are a lot bigger than some of the mounts, but there has to be a limit as to how many heads you want on the wall. To get another whitetail shoulder mounted it will likely have to be in the 180's.

I am at my limit as well with whitetails, I hate to put a number on what it would take to get another should mount because i don't know...I have a Texas buck that scored as higher( 168) then all of the deer I have mounted but they are just screwed to the wall in my shop/man cave. The body size just didn't thrill me and I couldn't see mounting it ...So I guess I don't know...I just do what ever I feel like at the time.
