Since the mighty Fantoon is incapacitated (by a robin of all things). We haven't gone out much. We did sweet talk Ken into taking us out on Wednesday night. We didn't see a lot of carp but we did see a quarter jillion bluegills, a half jillion bass, a full jillion catfish and two sauger-y looking things. The carp haven't started spawning on this lake yet but they sure are full of eggs. Ken took heaviest fish of the night with an 18lb, 9 oz carp. I got the longest one. Kendall was in the game too. He kept making faces... so this is the least freaky photo I got. We ended up with only 11 but when I was digging holes the next day, I wasn't too sad that we missed some. It takes a pretty big hole to bury fat 30-32" carp. The propane guy showed up to fill the tank while I was burying them. I walked over to ask the guy if Kendall had left a check and the guy looked like he was frightened. I'm not sure if was my bloody gloves, blood spattered shovel and the holes in the garden... or maybe it was just me. :p
Thanks Dan... that's what Kendall said too. ..sigh.. On the other hand, fear is almost as good as respect. hee hee. We have the dirt all tilled up nice and purdy so I didn't want to smash it back down digging holes with the tractor. I wanted individual holes so I could plant squash over each fish. I felt that way right up to hole #8. But since I was already most of the way done... I kept digging. It was 86 degrees and I'm not quite used to it being that warm yet. I also got a blister. I gotta toughen up. Next time I'm breaking out the axe and/or shooting smaller fish.
And while I'm posting.. Check out this grubzilla I found in the garden yesterday. There's almost enough there for leftovers!
Those are some plump fish and some happy faces The way it should be That grub looks like its gonna explode
That Grub looks big enough that he could of dug those holes for you " On the other hand, fear is almost as good as respect. hee hee. " Atta Girl......
