I’m in the market and have been looking around for a cheap self film setup. I don’t need everything to be top notch and I’m just looking for a decent priced camera that gets the job done where I can have a little fun and see my shots. Any suggestions welcome! Thanks guys

Give us an idea of what your budget for the camera would be.

Maybe $400-$500 for camera not including an arm and other necessities. If a cheap one can be found with decent quality, I’m not opposed to that either. It’s more of just for fun and to share with family and friends

For that price you can find sometimes refurbished or used Canon G20's and for the price are awesome and can accept a LANC remote which is game changer. It is actually the camera I currently use.

While the Canon G20 or G30 are great for making hunting videos I started with a $200 Sony Handicam. If you can't find a refurbished Canon, this might be an option. I now have a G30 but still use the Sony for lots of stuff.
You won't have an option for an external mic with the Sony, though. Here is a sample of one of my really early videos using the Sony Handicam.

I think the Handycam's can and always do serve a great second angle option even if you start out with them and then upgrade. Many put forth clear enough images and are so small you can honestly slap them on a tiny tripod or tree hook for second angles or interviews. Only bad thing is having to manual turn them on which can stink at times when big boy has ya rattled and not thinking clear.
