Decent news for Virginia hunters

    What does MI call theirs? Never heard of it.

    They do have private lands that are open to the public and the landowner gets a tax break. Mainly benefits the large timber/paper companies.

    We're probably talking about the same thing, but in the southern half of the lower peninsula its mostly farmers and normal property owners.

    Think it's called HAP. It's featured on the DNR website.

    After looking that up, it's definitely not the same.

    Commercial Forest lands can be anywhere in MI. Access is supposed to be on foot but many paper companies leave their roads open. There are no sign in requirements or limits on the number of people hunting the property.
