Until handouts are cut, it doesn't matter what we do. Whoever opens that can of worms may very well start riots within our own borders....it is coming, whether a republican bucks up and does it...or liberals control it until we literally have no options for money to fund them left and they have to cut their own programs back. Paying people to not work is stupid. I've never ONCE been to a city where jobs are not available. Maybe not the exact job you want, but work is always out there to be done. The only people I've EVER met in my entire life that are far left, either have it made in life and have never been around a social security building this decade to experience the lines that form in masses at them, or they are receiving money themselves.
Obama mentions balancing the budget, managing the deficit, etc, while he's burying us in DEBT, and people buy that bunch of BS??? We've DOUBLED our national deficit in just under 4 yrs!!! ALL the mess that Bush supposedly got us in, has gotten TWICE as bad, do we really want to see how much worse it can get??? Vendetta, I believe you should change your screen-name to AGENDA, as it would be more honest and fitting.... :D Romney is a very intelligent and worthy businessman, a very charitable person, and a very much better choice than what we've had over the last 4 yrs. Consider this, our deficit has doubled in just 4 yrs, and the "Obama-Care" hasn't even started yet, and when it does, then that deficit will only grow larger more quickly. If Romney can just repeal Obama-care, and manage to keep us at the level we're at, without increasing our debt and deficits, he's better than what we've just endured over the last 4 yrs.... If you're bordering on bankrupty, you're not going to try to spend your way out of it, but that's exactly what Obama and his sheeple have tried to do with the "stimulus" money, and if you look at the direction the money's were sent, many of the "beneficiaries" were UNIION workers he and his group likely hoped they could depend on for votes the next time around.... When I say "beneficiary" I am referring to the union workers who were opportuned with work because of the stimulus spending, that otherwise may not have been, yet the "stimulus" did nothing other than dig the hole deeper for my children and grand-children to hope that they may one day overcome!!! If not for yourself, then consider the next generations coming up and do the right thing when you go to the polls.
As if you're better than me? You're spouting off political rhetoric like the next person, or me in this case. Not to mention it's easier for you to do so, considering that 90% of the people on this site are undoubtedly republican. If I have an "agenda", it's to educate. I actually search out information. I try to educate myself, and others on issues, when I can. Sometimes points are presented to me, that I was either unaware of, or misunderstood. When this happens I research it. Ask my wife, she hates that I research things the way I do (in depth), takes up too much of my life she says. I liked a few points Romney made, as a matter of fact, but I didn't like that he didn't have a matter of "fact" about what he was saying. Anyone can get up and attack, but if you aren't telling the truth, what does it do? Do I think Obama has been perfect? No, I definitely do not. I would've considered the Republican ticket had a different individual taken the primary (specifically, one). Do I think Romney will do any better? No, I think he'll give handouts the same as this president, but the difference will be that he'll give them to the rich instead of the poor. Remember that Romney thinks middle class are those making between 200-250k a year. I don't know many in the middle class if that's the case. Yet, I consider myself, my family, my neighbors, all middle class Americans. It shows how out of touch Romney is. He tells kids to borrow the money for college from his parents. Again, out of touch with the real world. Attack me if you wish, but know that I haven't said anything that I can't defend. I've not attacked a single person, and have just talked about issues. You, sir, have not done that.
He thinks the middle class is 200-250k.... And you believe this? lol Romney is hated for being a successful rich person, which I never understood. Would we rather elect someone who has never accomplished anything in the business world...err, sorry REelect I should say. Not taxing the rich even more than the ridiculous rates they already pay isn't a handout. Giving money to people who don't even pay taxes to begin with is a handout. Liberals always try to spin this and it always gets under my skin for some reason.
Romney paid 14% on income he earned by doing nothing, how much did you pay for work you actually did? Again, look at the Tax Policy Center's evaluation of Romney's plan.... It shows the rich getting a tax cut, and those making less than 200k paying more. He may lower the tax rate on the middle, but he'll raise the effective tax they pay.
The rich carry this country when it comes to taxes. The top 1% of earners payed over 30%% of all taxes(2009) while the bottom 20% pay 3/10 of 1%. The top 1% pay rougly 24% in taxes on their money which is nearly double the national average. Not to mention the fact that the lowest 40% of households get most of their money back with refundable tax credits and many people literally pay 0 and leech the system. http://money.cnn.com/2012/08/30/pf/taxes/rich-taxes/index.html Peolpe that ***** about tax cuts for the weallthy don't seem to realize who is footing the bill here in the US. I'm not wealthy but I am smart enough to know that me paying $10,000 in taxes and getting a $4000 tax return doesn't really compare to a person paying $50,000 in taxes. Here's some real $ talk. My health insurance policy goes up about 4-5% annually and has for the past 13 years. How much did it go up this year? Almost 20%...and it is estimated to go up another 30-40% by 2016 due to Obamacare(see also Canadas health care system). But hey that's not a tax remember. I'd rather pay more taxes than get gouged on healthcare. I think most people don't mind paying taxes but I would like to see more responibility and accountability for that money. It doesn't matter how much taxes the govenrment takes in if it pisses it away. I'm kind of used to living on a tight budget it's just sad to see that our countries budget is in worse shape than my own.
Why do people have the mindset that the rich should do everything simply because they are rich. Why should the bottom 50% of tax payers in the country be exempt from tax increases especially considering they don't pay squat(big picture) as it is? "A perfect democracy, a ‘warm body’ democracy in which every adult may vote and all votes count equally, has no internal feedback for self-correction. It depends solely on the wisdom and self-restraint of citizens… which is opposed by the folly and lack of self-restraint of other citizens. What is supposed to happen in a democracy is that each sovereign citizen will always vote in the public interest for the safety and welfare of all. But what does happen is that he votes his own self-interest as he sees it… which for the majority translates as ‘Bread and Circuses.’ ‘Bread and Circuses’ is the cancer of democracy, the fatal disease for which there is no cure. Democracy often works beautifully at first. But once a state extends the franchise to every warm body, be he producer or parasite, that day marks the beginning of the end of the state. For when the plebs discover that they can vote themselves bread and circuses without limit and that the productive members of the body politic cannot stop them, they will do so, until the state bleeds to death, or in its weakened condition the state succumbs to an invader—the barbarians enter Rome.” Robert Heinlein
We don't need to be " educated". We have some very intelligent people here that can do their own research. The problem with many liberals is that because conservatives have a different ideology, liberals think their ignorant, stupid, or uneducated. The problem with research, is you have to research both sides as most researchers are biased in one direction or another. The fact of the matter is that Obama is destroying America. As was stated, look at insurance cost today as opposed to 4 years ago. Look at the debt as opposed to 4 years ago. Look at unemployment as well or welfare and food stamp recipients. Now imagine where all that will be in another 4 years. If things were actually moving in a positive direction, then there would be an argument to vote for Obama but they are continually getting worse. We are also seeing the 10th amendment being ignored, so in my EDUACTED opinion. Obama HAS to be fired. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
Listen to what your saying. You can say tax cut all you want but the man wrote a check for almost $2 million dollars to the IRS and your going to say he should pay more? WTH I've never gotten a job from a poor person. All their money is spent on themselves. The wealthy are what really makes America great. They have all their money invested back into businesses and investing in other company's to help them grow. Bottom line is the Democratic Party is about angry, gelous people with an axe to grind and trying to justify the hands outs their getting. And I hear a lot of class envy as well. The Dems whole game is to keep those people bitter and with their entitlement additude and thinking only of themselves. Never mind the burden their creating that your children and grandchildren will crushed with, just think about yourselves and how evil the 1% er's are. Their the problem.
Fox, I agree with your post! One minor addition... Which needs to ALWAYS be looked at with the participation rate and other factors. Vendetta, the one thing I will add is its not a one way street. Obama also told his share of half-truths backed up by sources like factcheck (which may have some bias, but noted statements on both sides). I try not to get wrapped up into the party jersey wearing, but I'm definately conservative. My opinion is there are too many blind party followers, people who want to pick the winning team and don't look at the big picture of the future of the country as opposed to "what's in it for me".
As long as we cut all handouts I am good, this means corporate welfare, foreign nations and all tax loops holes. I want them all stopped
We really need a president who is willing to piss off everyone and do what he needs to do to put the country on the right track and I think a Billionaire businessman is just the type for the job. Just cut every government program by 5% for the next four years and cancell all new expenditures. It's something we've all had to do and the public can understand it. I'd also cut taxes by 2%-5% for the next four years as well and huge tax breaks for companies hiring new employees. But that's me
Word. I'd go to set low percentages without all these exceptions which cause loopholes in the first place...maybe even a sales tax.
We did this in Michigan, that business tax is now 6%, no deductions, no loops holes, you just pay 6%.
So, he paid more dollars in taxes, I paid nearly twice the percentage he did. Why should I get less of my money than he should when his take home was 11.5mil? So if someone pays more dollars it's ok if they don't contribute their fair share? I'm not demonizing the rich, I'm saying if you own 6 houses, don't have to work at all, and make 14million a year, you can afford to pay a bit more, percentage, and still be sitting just fine. Do you think if he only had 9 million take home he would've been feeling the squeeze?
This is where we disagree, we should have a flat rate, with declining rate to encourage folks to make more. The more money you make the less taxes you pay(%). Franchises do this, it's called a declining royalty rate.
So your beef is "I'm saying if you own 6 houses, don't have to work at all, and make 14million a year, you can afford to pay a bit more, percentage, and still be sitting just fine" That just sour grapes IMO. Know this, on top of that $2mil he paid in income taxes the property taxes on one of his homes is probably more than you and I pay in taxes put together. The fact that you have no respect for the achievements he's made doesn't make it right for the government to take more from him in real dollars than anyone else. How long until the left starts attacking gold medalist in the olympics because they are the winners and can afford a few disadvantages to help they other win or at least feel better about themselves? End of the day how much can the government do with the amount we pay in our taxes and how much can they do with his? The real reason wealthy people are wealthy is because they respect money much more than the average guy.
