Clearly this moron planned his attack for some time and cared so much about his own self preservation that he was decked out in personal protective gear. He thought this through and planned. This was pre-meditated and was not a crime of passion. The pre-planning and booby-trapping his apartment to kill cops is pretty good evidence of that. I think he is smart enough to try and keep himself alive by pretending to be insane. I don’t think he will succeed. CO has the death Penalty (injection) and it appears the courts will seek the death penalty in this case. The Supreme Court has stated:

“the decision that capital punishment may be the appropriate sanction in extreme cases is an expression of the community's belief that certain crimes are themselves so grievous an affront to humanity that the only adequate response may be the penalty of death."

What are your views terminating this guy or the death penalty as a whole as a way of dealing with extremely violent cases?

FYI, there are currently 4 people on Death Row in CO. Only one person has been executed there since 1976.

I think it shouldn't even be up for discussion. He belongs six feet under where he put his multiple victims.

He is not insane. His act won't hold up.

Knowing Colorado....he will sit in prison the rest of his life on our dime.

I used to be extemely pro death penalty until I studied criminology in college. I then saw both sides of the fence and that is generally where I ride on the issue. It's tough being pro death when you see multiple cases a year of convicted murderers being overturned on new DNA evidence. Makes you wonder how many innocent people were put to death back in our "good ole boys club" judicial system. However, a case like this is a no brainer. He should get the death penalty and should be strapped on gurney with a needle in his arm within 5 years. To bad we couldn't try him in Texas.

Per the law, yes he probably is due the death penalty. The part that further frosts me is that he will likely sit in jail before the trial, appeals and before he is even due to be executed for 5-10 years.

I have mixed feelings on the death penalty simply due to the massive number of people that have been proven innocent while on death row. My ex's uncle (Ray Krone) was the 100th man released from death row due to DNA evidence back in 2003. Sitting with him at a Thanksgiving dinner and hearing him talk about some of the F-d up processes in the justice system makes you really wonder how many innocent people have died on death row.

With that said, I also feel there is a line somewhere in there where it makes sense. Like someone with over a hundred witnesses. The guy in question should be given his fair trial and then a ticket in the express lane to death row.

He should already be dead as far as I am concerned! Be done with him...don't waste another penny on this low life piece of crap.

I agree that the death penalty cannot be abused as it is many a time........but what evidence DNA or otherwise is ever going to prove this guy didn't kill these people? We're not talking about a hint or a lot of facts pointing towards him being the murderer....HE IS THE MURDERER. This is one instance where I say let the death penalty fit if it is fitting. I just pray he can seek out God before he dies, if he hasn't already. Prayers to all the families involved.*

Yup! Don't spend any more money, time, energy, film, or air on this fool. I know that's not realistic but just answering with my opinion. He planned to kill. He was working in his PhD so he's not dumb. He boight over 6,000 rounds in a month. Brought 4 guns and bombs and full body armor with him. Set up his place to kill those who protect us and attempt to distract and hold up the police from getting to that movie theator in time (luckly that didn't work). People like this are not worth our tax money. Kill him and let's spend that money on the victims and their family.

I know how you feel. I took Criminal Justice the first summer short session this year and I won't say it changed my stance on the death penalty but it definitely made me think more about it. The statistics on the subject were very interesting.

But in this case I think it's pretty straight forward and the guy deserves it.

I believe in a case like this where there is absolutely no doubt he was the killer he should be strapped to the table within hours of his sentencing instead of wasting tax dollars.

I can understand the wait for cases where there is maybe one witness or things of that nature.

I say let him sit in the general population in prison for 10 years first. The fact that he killed a child coupled with his "slight" frame, he will be on many receiving ends of bubbas lonely nights. Let him endure that nightly for 10 years first.
