That sounds easy enough until you are face to face with 3 guys that are armed and a police force thats too busy to be bothered. Our GW doesn't handle tresspassing calls.

I feel ya brother but it ain't worth git'n shot over. I'd just hit them with a high powered spot light. Sure you can bring a gun and confront them out in the woods in the middle of the night but it's how many against you and you don't know the state of mind these people are in. If they have the balls to trespass with dogs then????

A-holes are A-holes and we have to deal with them everyday. We lock and alarm our homes, cars, businesses because of these A-holes just don't them one take you out over a raccoon. JMHO Play it smart. Of course piano wire strung about 5.5' off the ground could be effective.

Buy a whole lot of pepper. Sprinkle it around during the day, especially now that you know where they are likely to let the dogs loose.

BBM, your best bet is to contact the Master of Hounds at the sponsering club and speak with him. They can be scratched from the competition for knowingly trespassing.

I have to ask this question......do you think there is a difference of someone crossing property lines to retreive their 170" buck or someone crossing property lines to recover their $7,000 coon dog? Think long and hard before you post.

2L, are they going to scratch the whole competition? 200 complaints in a week. Sounds like the whole crew is going wherever they want to me. I'm not anti coon hunter, I am just tired of these guys acting like the entire area is public hunting ground.

I'm not going to think long and hard about it. If the dogs wondered on to my property, fine, get your dogs. When you dump them out by my driveway, thats a whole different ballgame. I'm a pretty laid back cat for the most part. If I wasn't planning to bowhunt this morning, and they would have ASKED ME, I would have let them in.

I'll make this more simple. I would not participate in a sport where I was constantly intruding on someone's elses land. I just couldn't bring myself to it even if it were lawful.

Like I said in an earlier post, your situation is different. Yes, this whole cast could have and should be scratched from the competion. It also sounds to me that this club is hosting this hunt witout guides. It is the guides duty to make sure this does not happen.

My question is for the folks who are *****ing about dogs crossing property lines. I would say the majority have done the same to retreive their deer.

It's not constantly. In 12 years of running hounds, I could count on 2 hands the amount of times I've had to go get my dogs on a place that I didn't have permission to hunt. If it was early in the evening, I would knock on the door and ask the land owner. If the land owner did not live on the land, (which was more times than not) I would go in and get my dogs, leave the coon and go back to the truck.

I'm surprised no one has said to shoot the dogs. Which BTW...would be a very dumb idea.

Confront them, take up close pictures of them and report them to the heads of the tournament. Someone in the bunch might give a ****

Thats really unfortunate. I personally dont think confronting them as a harda** is the best idea, since it sounds like they are all a-holes with firearms. If I were you I would try to take a picture of them, their plates and try talking to them again if they show up. Tell them that they could be booked for trespassing if they show up again.

Call the sheriff. If he says... we've had 200 complaints this week and can't be there. Tell them, that's OK, I've got a 12 guage loaded with buckshot. I'll get rid of them, you call the coroner. Sheriff will be there in 5 minutes..

P.S. Actually going out there with a gun and confronting them is a bad BAD idea unless you're really willing to shoot someone and suffer the consequences. What idiots organized this thing.

Yeah, I don't want to escalate this to a shootout. As far as who organized it, I don't know. We've been hosting the championships for the past few years. It's supposed to go back to Kentucky next year. I know many property owners in the area are glad this is the final year.

I'd be absolutely livid about coon hunters or any hunter period being on my land and then throwing a fit about It. I understand where 2 lunger Is coming from but when these a holes throw a fit about It then It's game on with the pricks.

Exactly what I would do If these guys throw a fit about It.
