I spent a good amount of time last night on this thing. I like it quite a bit. It's got a few glitches that I would love to see addressed in the future, but still it's by far the best device I've used or seen. The only thing I don't like specifically about it is that you can really run the battery down pretty quickly if your using it extensively. My old phone would last 2-3 days on a charge, but this will die after probably 4ish hours of hard use. If your not on it and just taking calls, etc.......I'm sure it would last a long time but I can see those tree stand sits tapping the battery dry this fall. I really love that it's using google maps for the GPS, they have 2008 maps for my property in PA. Now those stands that are hard to find in the dark..........well I should be able to pin them as favorites on the GPS and find them in the dark. :d
RJ, did you end up getting the iPhone? I stood in line "release day" at a AT & T store near my house. I came up about 6-10 people short of getting one on that day. I placed an order and it came a week later. I chickened out and only got the 8 gig one. So far, this thing is an incredible upgrade from my previous Motorola Sliver (or whatever the lame abbreviation is for that particular model). Pretty powerful phone....I am outside the cusp of the 3G network at times....but overall, I am happy with what the phone is able to accomplish. I am having trouble recently though grabbing my e-mail from the phone. I don't know what the issues are.
Yep, I've got it now. I love it. I have put quite a bit of time into it now, and while there are definitely little quirky things about it, I still think it's the best deal going. Until that new blackberry that is supposed to be an iPhone killer comes out, I don't see how you can really get a better phone for $200. The 3G network is plenty fast for me, I haven't seen anything that would make me need it to be faster.
i am on my cell phone now, t-mobile Dash ... i have had this phone for a couple years and love it... slim design, great internet , email etc... i use it all the time in the woods, constantly checking weather underground in the field ...cross referencing what the reports are with whats actually taking place, mostly with winds... i use it all the time while out scouting or siting in observation stands or areas... heck ive posted several times from the woods...
Garmin is coming out with a new one called the Nuviphone. Looks a lot like the Iphone, but is intergrating with great navigation equipment. Unfortunately, my problem is just getting service. None of the main carriers have strength around this area, so i'm limited to my phone selection.
I am not one for touchscreens but the Storm is sweet. Let me know if you have any issue and I'll make sure we have on of our best techs call you back We never stop working for you!
I wasn't really into the "do it all" phones, until this November when my brother lost his phone during the Wisc gun season. He ended up getting the IPhone. Holy crap! That thing can do everything, and fast. I was even able to make a couple posts here while I was at my family's Christmas Party. It has google earth, so we can get an instant aerial photos... plus he has a air hockey game. I don't think I would get anything done if I got one of these...
Honestly, I have had NO problems. It has a gps and I have used it to find my way to a hotel. I have Face Book, Youtube (for the funnies), Tiltris (a great version of Tetris) and no problems. I also am not one of those that tried un-official versions of the OS though. I have: 240 songs 2 movies - Mr & Mrs Smith / Transformers Hunting clips 10 Ring Tones 30 Pictures and I think that it is wonderful. Plus it is still the business tool that all Blackberries are. That is why I have it:d
I second that! Picked up my storm after Christmas shopping was done and WOW, I wonder how I ever lived without it
