Put a new sight on the Black Ice today, shooting it to try to get it set up as my back-up bow. Shot at 24yds, GREAT, moved back to 32, and that shot seemed a couple inches high, next shot....: and the damned thing busted something..... Sounded funny, then I KNEW what it was....... . . . . . . . . . . . . . And you guessed it, those CHEAP Cabela's arrows... I've lost 16 of them this way, 6 of them just setting sights up.... Out $5.50...No big deal!!! So my "back-up" bow is set up now..... :D
I'm impartial, mostly Hoyt, but I've said MANY times, the Diamond Black Ice is one of the top 5 or so bows I've ever shot. I decided on the AM35 as it's just a little faster, and a little more stable in the hand, but it really was a CLOSE choice between the two. For the record, this is my FIRST non-Hoyt RH.... :D
That's the ONLY way it'll happen for me any more, as I've quit shooting at the same spot after they're dialed in... I don't robin-hood 'em any more as I switched to pin nocks a few years ago, but it's still time-consuming to go put on a new nock and worry about the pin being bent. Good shootin'.
In all honesty Greg, I'm only paying about $65/dozen for these arrows all finished out, sometimes cheaper, so it's no big deal, I don't like it, but at the same time, it's still cool even after a bunch of 'em. My little girl was watching me shoot, and she said "Where'd it hit Daddy???" :D I told her, "Right where it was supposed to, sort of..."
Dave, The Marquis is certainly a nice shooter as well, just not quite as smooth as the Black Ice, but still a nice smooth drawing, great shooting bow. I hope to see a pic of you (and everyone else for that matter) with your "bloody" hands wrapped around the antlers of a nice bull.
That's why my arrows have unibushings in them,I have never lost an arrow with unis in them to this.Had plenty of nocks split down the middle but with my lower poundage,I ain't gettin through the uni.Not to mention the g-nocks are tough as nails too.
Nice shooting! It seems everyone always says how expensive it is doing this, but I believe most folks would pay the cost of it just to be able to say they've shot a Robin Hood. :D
Nah, only cost me about $5.50..... Part of why I shoot these arrows.... They are VERY consistent, and VERY cheap in the overall realm of things. At $50/dozen raw, and with a .003" straightness rating, they're a GREAT deal...... I believe many of the guys really do feel it's expensive, and would rather not shoot a RH. I really try not to shoot groups inside of 40yds too often, but I was trying to tweak this set-up, and I find the BEST way to do it is to shoot a GROUP, unfortunately (or fortunately) this group of "2" was really "tight." :D
