Here's a decent 10 point I let go this last hunting season (2010). Was sooooooo hoping he'd live to see another year. I have a feeling he would've turned Into a great buck this year. I always thought he was a 3.5 year by the trail cam pics and sightings when I had him as close as 10 yards twice but I'm not so sure now. We haven't measured him yet but his mass measurements are very small. Nothing over 3 Inches I know that. Possibly a stud of a 2.5? When I passed him up last fall I figured he'd go right around 125 Inches max. After looking at his rack tonight I don't think he'll go much more then 115 to 118 Inches. My brother found him today while looking for sheds.

Thats too bad... What do you think did him in? He looks like he had some pretty good potential, nice frame size and shape

I honestly don't know but I have my Ideas. My brother said most of the carcass was there. No broken bones from a bullet hole or anything that he could see. He did say his one shoulder was missing. I'd bet money he was wounded during the slug season here. November 9th was the last time I saw him alive. Never got a trail cam picture either of him again. I figured something happened to him as he 100% disappeared. The last day of the Minnesota gun season the neighbors did a deer drive. They said they shot at a nice buck at about 60 yards wide open on the run. They said they watched him run Into our woods but said they never hit him. Where my brother found him Is about 100 yards from this spot. My guess Is that If they did Indeed hit him they gut shot him.

Thats to bad he didint make it. Your right, he would have been a nice deer this next year. I also think he would of been a 3.5 year old this next season.

If thats a Minnesota 2.5 than all I have to say is dang!!! Its a shame about the deer drive if that is what did him in. If you let enough of them grow eventually it will happen for you. Keep up the good fight!!!

That's a tough pill to swallow, Steve. That buck had tremendous potential that's for sure. That's just a risk you take when letting a handsome young buck like that walk; you did the right thing though!

Hopefully, he passed on his genetics to another generation. Good job passing on him even though I am confident you are quite frustrated!

I agree on you with the age, and that was one hell of a young buck. Always sucks to find them like that!

Well he definitely had some potential, but unfortunately we won't see how big he will get. It's too bad when you find those antlers still attached to the head. I'm sure you would have wanted to find the sheds instead. Sorry you had to find him this way.
