Well hard part doneI use to pride myself on zero meat or hide knife nicks...so those days are done:confused:.
I have to say I'm surprised with hide off , he's not much bigger than the early doe and hams are smaller. Neck way bigger. Zero fat but the hide was very thick. Ticks the size of raisins were constantly dropping on to card board under him and a slew of live lice. The hide bore the marks of all the ticks. . Well the meat saw is together and I need to remove loins and quarter him up.

His very full bladder, both hocks(I remove before hanging), and his tail are in a baggy. Tail for decoy and the rest for gun hunt in a few days .

Lots of us hunt cold temps. some in remote areas. I ran across this and it was VERY informative. . Ignore the cartoon LISTEN. it's not just about prepping. It's about body physics in cold weather.. if you actually winter camp it's good. If you've ever sat on stand and got shakey WATCH

    Human kindness at it's best.
Today after my 2nd and last physical of the year I hit the towns Walmart. I got a call from hubby. You have to understand the absolute love we had for A. J., After I left this morning leaving hubby alone at the house he had a bad time. He needed to talk and we both ended up crying. Well as we hung up, I look up and a young man with his daughter in the cart was at the other end of isle. He looked at me and asked " Do you need a hug?" Oh my, what a kind offer that I did decline with addiment appreciation. He said sometimes we just need someone to listen. We spoke and I explained the situation. My concern for my spouse. We walked toward each other as he tells me they lost their dog last fall as well. Oh Geez! I gave condolences then his daughter looked up at me with a huge smile on her beautiful face

This man going out of his way to show kindness to a tearful old woman he has never met before , has lost his family pet as well and his daughter has down syndrome. He gave honest concern for a stranger. We talked shared pics and parted ways.

So I got back to my car and sat crying again. Not out of sadness but relief. Relief that my lost hope for human kind in general, had been shown a bright spark , May God bless their entire family for he is a kind soul.

It's refreshing to know there are still kind, compasssionate people out there. Especially, when they are complete strangers.

    Dear heavens life is bizarre.
Unfortunately our VERY, VERY nice insurance woman self deleted. God bless and help her family.
This action caused us to have to review our vehical insurance and seach for a new agent.
Long short of it is, NYS has something called a "rewrite"? Same company, same policy, with a newer vehical. We are now paying 900.00 dollars LESS a year. We would have never known.
Our bad, one needs to stay on top of EVERYTHING ALWAYS.

Holy cow 71 yesterday, mid 50's last night, 28 and snowing now. Add a stiff wind to that and I can say my arthritis is angry this morning. Pups weren't too happy either...lol

March 1993, we had 72 on Friday, temps dropped like a rock and dumped 21 inches of snow along with high winds. No power from Friday night to Saturday afternoon. Snow went from Dalton, GA to the south and Athens, TN in the north.

So with NYS DEC putting on another push at herd reduction I wonder

Are any of these agencies trying to reduce herds for farms and insurance, really checking illegal harvest? I mean I don't see a glaring mounting issue that, yah know, could be possibly hushed in rising beef costs and a illegal population that poo poo US laws. No no that couldn't ever become an issue for residence that actually go through the legal process to harvest deer that pay good money and expect to have them in reasonable #'s, especially in blue states....hhhmmmmm

    Speaking of......
Town of Oleans guy found with 3 dead turkey hidden in the bed of his truck. DEC got a call from neighbor that watched him shoot them at a feeder in his back yard. NYS season May1- 31. Limit 2 Toms. Shot gun or bow. Definitely not a long gun. No details other than admission was given, charges filed.

So this could go for all states I suppose. Just a thought so give your thoughts on it.

While driving the expressway to daughters I viewed the obscene wind turbines, half not working. The solar fields eating up crop or farm lands. The state give loads of $$$$$ to these companies in tax breaks. The state has to pay to maintain what in some areas are huge medians between left and right roadways that traverse the state. They battle the animals that set up in these
areas that cause accidents. The companies that build these solar fields also build fencing around them for security.
So why not make deals with these solar companies to build their arrays in the largest sections of road medians? Save on maintenance and add to the tax base directly

There was an aerial photo of a place for old windmill blades. However, some places are using the land for grazing livestock. Was in California and I think they are a blight on the scenery. It is said that birds are changing migration patterns. Raptors are getting killed by the blades. I was in Massachusetts several years ago. I was pleasantly surprised that they have strict regulations on road signs and billboards. Restaurant and gas stations were listed on road signs along the interstate.
