Well hard part doneI use to pride myself on zero meat or hide knife nicks...so those days are done:confused:.
I have to say I'm surprised with hide off , he's not much bigger than the early doe and hams are smaller. Neck way bigger. Zero fat but the hide was very thick. Ticks the size of raisins were constantly dropping on to card board under him and a slew of live lice. The hide bore the marks of all the ticks. . Well the meat saw is together and I need to remove loins and quarter him up.

His very full bladder, both hocks(I remove before hanging), and his tail are in a baggy. Tail for decoy and the rest for gun hunt in a few days .

Lots of us hunt cold temps. some in remote areas. I ran across this and it was VERY informative. . Ignore the cartoon LISTEN. it's not just about prepping. It's about body physics in cold weather.. if you actually winter camp it's good. If you've ever sat on stand and got shakey WATCH

    Human kindness at it's best.
Today after my 2nd and last physical of the year I hit the towns Walmart. I got a call from hubby. You have to understand the absolute love we had for A. J., After I left this morning leaving hubby alone at the house he had a bad time. He needed to talk and we both ended up crying. Well as we hung up, I look up and a young man with his daughter in the cart was at the other end of isle. He looked at me and asked " Do you need a hug?" Oh my, what a kind offer that I did decline with addiment appreciation. He said sometimes we just need someone to listen. We spoke and I explained the situation. My concern for my spouse. We walked toward each other as he tells me they lost their dog last fall as well. Oh Geez! I gave condolences then his daughter looked up at me with a huge smile on her beautiful face

This man going out of his way to show kindness to a tearful old woman he has never met before , has lost his family pet as well and his daughter has down syndrome. He gave honest concern for a stranger. We talked shared pics and parted ways.

So I got back to my car and sat crying again. Not out of sadness but relief. Relief that my lost hope for human kind in general, had been shown a bright spark , May God bless their entire family for he is a kind soul.

It's refreshing to know there are still kind, compasssionate people out there. Especially, when they are complete strangers.
