We have a rant and a best things thread. We needs just an observation, one for the daily life things we may encounter To that I went to Grandsons track meet. 4 different schools all little to middle school in age. It was great to see those kids , I mean 1st graders running the full track around a football field. Jumping little hurdles ,doing high jump , long jump and relays. Watching parents and grandparents interactions. My one observation has a bit of a race based view. An Asian family with a few kids participated. I have to say I felt a little sadness for their kids. Mom and especially Dad were VERY engaged. The cam was out and Dad would run along the track filming all smiles. The kids how ever had a different look. They had a hard desperate look of determination on their faces. It was near painful. I know different cultures and dad looked like he had been in track so probably wants to see his kids do as well or better. Though for me at this age kids should just be enjoying the process and striving to get a bit better each meet. Most all the kids there seemed to be in that mind set.
Oh got my NYODN, Looks like after years of trying NY will be getting full season cross bow usage. So NY guys , your welcome. See when my Doc said it's time for a disability crossbow allowance. They allowed it last year. When I got it I told hubby. Watch they'll get the bill through next season...lol
From what I have gathered, Asians are very goal oriented (no pun) with the expectancy of each kid doing above and beyond their best. Japanese are at the top of the list. Failure isn't an option. That is why Japanese have the highest suicide rate in the world. Kids in sports these days have a lot of pressure on them to perform. Little League and other organizations are some of the worst. Years ago, I saw kids either practicing or playing six days a week. The Bible Belt had Wednesday off most of the time.
Yes they got sprinkles and a waffle cones dipped in choclate and sprinkles. Man it's been a bit since I visited an Ice cream parlor. 2 cones nearly 13.00.
When the grandsons are over we do not have car seats so we can't bring the boys anyplace. The other day my daughter left her vehicle when she dropped the boys, I wanted to bring the boys into town for a cone, they were not interested.
My son was in Dixie Youth baseball years ago. He got burned out from practicing or playing 5-6 days a week. ESPN magazine had an interesting article about kids wanting to play pro football. The article stated, if my memory serves me, about 1,200 pro football players of all leagues. Went on to say a kid would have a better chance in getting into medical school.
Getting old ,an interesting journey. I was just standing talking when a sharp quick pain with a slight burn hit the back of my upper left thigh. Now to be honest I get sharp pains all over during the day. I didn't think much of it until the burning continued. I reached behind me and felt the area. Well there was a huge lump. I knew then I'd popped a blood vessel. I had someone check the area and it was fully purple. Filled with blood and now sore. I Got home and googled it. Of course AI said get to a Dr. I go in tomorrow morning. A. I.said such a thing could blow a clot killing me. You know what my first thought was Hey God, I really want another 15 or so years but if your going to take me out now, I appreciate your chioce. ..lol
Yes popped vein but no biggy. I have developed some varicose vein in the back of my thigh on the leg I had major surgery. Doc said it happens . They are hereditery , I'm lucky to have developed them so late in age. My mom had them in her late twenties. We assumed due to being ran over by a car. No just in the genes.
Country life , you just got to love it. I'm drive home from pharmacy after reporting a possible rabid fox out by the nearest towns daycare and headed towards the towns kids park. Police took to heads up. BTW 1pm and 85 out. I get to farm field behind gypsy blind and they are small bailing oat straw. I stop and the farmer drives over comes to me and said yes to selling some. $5 per bale. I go home and grab the gator he and a hand help me load 15 bales and home I drive. I load up the greenhouse where I store it. No bothering hubby no spent time driving miles to and from and market price everywhere. Chickens loved it, they went nuts on the stuff that fell off bales as I moved them.
You asked for it Chris. Let me tell you about my colonoscopy yesterday........ I couldn't even use the joke about him "boldly going where no man's gone before" because he was the same doctor that did it 5 years ago. I actually told him that and then said "I had no idea you'd repeat your five year mission." I actually made the doctor laugh.
Do tell? Hahaha I've made my surgeons laugh on occation, that said I avoid making the guy with what amounts to a mechanical snake up my butt laugh before he puts me out and breeches the "exit door"...lol
Seriously maybe the USA should tariff the crud out of Canada to cover medical issues that the massive air quality problems their miss management of forestry is causing US citizens THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS. I've developed a irritating cough due to this smokey haze covering us
Not all, but many of those fires, especially in the Canadian mid-west are set by environmental whack jobs trying to make a global warming statement. Personally, I think it should be a crime of capitol punishment, but Canada is too soft for the death penalty.
I used to like the faint odor of 'wood' smoke, but this crap blowing down from Canaduh is awful, I wont even do my runs it gets so bad ... if it wasnt for the hunting and fishing up there, there isnt any redeeming value of that place ...
OK there is stupid and then there is idiocy. Canadians have all started walking off the cliff. Then amongst the ridiculous ban, their forest management states they won't be able to complete projects,Really?no public around and you are geared up to dampen any risk to fires due to your work Man I hate the smoke on the air but walking and fishing do not start fires.
Well a nice young lady and her Mom came for the 8 hen flock. They left with 12 and the free roo of choice. I got just enough to cover the feed I put into them. I'm good with that especially for a nice young person that already has chickens so knows what they're doing. Frees up a lot of space for the turkey flock. On that so far, I think I have 1 tom and 4 hens. That may change to 2 and 3. The poults are too young to tell yet I'm good either way. Two bronze , 1 blue slate/ royal palm, 1 bourbon red/ royal palm? and 1 bourbon red.
Well all birds sold that needed to be. Met a nice gentleman that is retiring and has time for chickens again. He came to see them and paid but will pick up Monday. He handed me 10.00 more than I asked and said keep it. Just nice people met this weekend. Makes me feel optimistic. PS I have to laugh showed him the new Tom...first time ever since getting him, his head turned flame red, he dropped his wings, fanned fully and gobbled at the guy...lol
