My D-loop stretches quite a bit since I got my bow and especially (or at least maybe I didn't notice it until after) since I started using my hinge release. I shortened it by 1/4" yesterday and went out to shoot. I only shot my hinge but it was hitting right just a touch at 20 and I mean like 1" or so. I moved back to 40yd and it was off by around 3".

Question is: can shortening a D-loop change you POI?

Sure, if it changes your anchor. Also, if it moved at all in the process of shortening it.

Sticks, I follow the forum year-round, but just don't post too much because most would not care to read my opinions! LOL! I used to mess with my bows all of the time, constantly tinkering. It will only frustrate you. Any little adjustment to your bow can change your point of impact. Sight it in, and let the bow perform. Try not to worry about the "what-ifs." The only shot that matters in hunting is the first one. By shortening your d-loop, you shortened your draw and changed your anchor point in some form.

I was looking to shorten it purposely. It has stretched since I started shooting the bow. I figured it would just looking for confirmation.

I am continually tweaking to improve my accuracy and find out exactly what I want. I haven't been shooting as long as most of these guys that "KNOW" what they like. Heck I didn't know I preferred a heavy longer ATA bow until I had a short ATA bow. That's how I have figured out what I like and don't like so far. I am set on my arrows because I have tried so many. I know what release I like due to the same thing. tip weight, vanes, peep sight, sight style and the list goes on. I don't have all I prefer yet due to funds but, I do at least have my platform for a while at least. I'm not satisfied with hitting somewhere in the kill zone at 20yd. I want to be able to know I can hit the dime sized spot at 40. Room for error is what I keep hearing so why not reduce that size exponentially and not have to guess when I release the arrow. That's just me though I guess. Guess That's one of the things "I" enjoy about archery.

Sighting the bow back in is no big deal.

Oh and it has kind of eased itself to the left over time and now I know why.
