What is the best method for me to shorten my carbon arrows to length, and what kind of glue, or adhesive, do I use for the inserts?
Cut them with an arrow saw. Tried filing the darn things down but it took too long. Take them to a pro shop and have them cut to length for you. I use super glue sometimes but most times just use GoatTuff as that is what I use for my vanes
OK, already cut them with a Dremel tool and abrasive cutting wheel, and it seemed to work pretty well. Now to glue the inserts. I used a hot glue gun last time, not really happy with the results. I will try the super glue, got plenty of that. I would love to be able to run down to my local archery shop, but it's too far away. Thanks for the input guys, and good luck this season!
Exactly. I dont think your arrows are going to be square now. You can get a squaring tool for about $35 or maybe the local shop will do it for you. I use gorilla super glue.
In addition to all the other advise...make sure to clean the dust out of the inside of the arrow after you have cut it. I just had 4 Easton arrows that all over the couse of 2 weeks shooting lost the inserts....the inside of the arrow still have carbon dust in it.
Good point; I normally use a .22 cal wire brush to "rough" up the inside of the shaft; Then I wet a Q-tip in rubbing alcohol to clean out the dust. Goat tuff that insert in and call it good.
I rotated while I cut and squared the ends, bought some Bohning glue, which is basically super glue gel. I will remember the tip on cleaning the inside of the shafts next time. Gave them a test run, all shot great. Thanks for all the great tips and best of luck to all this season!
