I was out the last night in my blind due to there being no clear treestand trees on a property I was Savin for a bit. The deer are definitely there I got busted by one which really posse me off but that's life. So I was planning on bringing out my saw and setting up a tree for my climber and some shooting lanes some of the trees require me cutting a decent amount of branches. Do you guys think that will mess up the areaeven though I will be out of ear shot of the deer? I will wear gloves sprayed with acorn scent.

Wait for a nice rainy day. Get in and get out. Let cool off for a couple days then hunt :D

I cut branches whenever I need, even during the season. Usually, I place the cuttings discreetly, like a flower arrangement. Trying to hide it from not only the deer but other hunters as well. Occasionally, I place the cuttings such that the deer are forced into better placement for a shot.

No reason not to. I carry a pocket saw in my pack.

Agreed... I would wait until you can do it quickly and then go back a few days later...

I do this too! I've found a lot of hunters' secret spots due to a couple misplaced cut branches. I believe the deer easily notice leafed branches that are just thrown about.

I agree. Two weeks ago I cleared out a stand during the afternoon making lanes and hunted it the next afternoon and saw 3 bucks, none of which seemed to notice my landscaping..

Limit your scent, get in, get out, give it a few days, hunt it up! Good luck.

I've climbed a tree with a pole saw, cut branches while in my stand and then killed deer. Also have had deer around while cutting lanes. If you're not making lanes the size of a football field, I don't see a problem. I usually make sure everything is trimmed well before the season and get out of there. But, if you have to during the season do what has aleady been said. Be scent free, in the rain or just before and give it a few days .. then hunt it.

I always try to do it before season, or sometime when I won't be out there for a couple weeks after.. If these are big branches and loud, I would not do it before a hunt.. That being said, if you do do it.. Make sure you do it a good amount of time before the primetime hunting times... Like do it at like 12 when you see the least amount of deer.

I have cut limbs off and toss them to the ground and have deer sniff of the fresh cut branches within the hour,
now they were does not sure if a mature buck would do that.

i planned my trimming visit to the T. I looked at th weather forecast on Sunday and saw rain Wednesday. It just so happened that I had to work a few hours Tuesday night into wednesday morning and then I was told to get some rest. RIGHT! I headed to the woods took down my climber and hung it up in a decent spot plus trimmed the branchs in my way. Next, i moved some cameras around and finally I ended up on the far side of my property trimming some branchs around another stand, so that I could see farther then 5 feet to my right. it's a 25 minute walk back to my SUV and it started to rain as soon as I got into my SUV. Yes God loves me! I also won $500 on a $10 IL scratch it ticket on my way home. God really loves me lots!

The Rain will wash away your scent, so try and plan you trip around the rain. before the rain is much better.
