Cutting arrows to proper length

    was given some new aluminum arrows that are cut but not at my draw length. i will not hunt with aluminum but i figure id shoot with them in the yard and what not. will i be able to get about an inch cut off these to fit... the reason i ask is because of the inserts and i do not know enough to answer these question??? thanks for the help guys.

    The inserts are likely installed with hot melt glue. Heat one up and see if it pulls out. If you're just using them for plinking you can carefully cut them with a tubing/pipe cutter and reinsert them with hot melt glue.

    If you are just going to plink with them. shoot them a little long.:cool:

    yeah, screw a field point half way in,( something to help pull it out so you dont mess up internal threads ) use a little heat to soften glue, and it should pull right out, then you can cut your arrow, re-insert insert with heat glue again.

    Or...if absolute accuracy isn't required for "plinking" in the yard, you could probably get some lighter FP's than what you're using......and leave them full length. ALL this is assuming they're spined correctly to begin with.

    What's the spine rating on the alum's (and your setup)? Heck...they "could be" perfect, as is!
