Although I agree with all on here we must also remember location. I used quantifier this year that I did not think I would ever use. "He is awesome but I would not have killed him on my farm". Not all properties are equal.
I saw that one too. Perfect example of how not letting antler size take away from your instinct. When those two bucks were sparring he couldn’t get a shot at the bigger one. With all the other deer around he knew it was a matter of moments before they got busted. So he chose to shoot the smaller buck and was %100 thrilled. I honestly would have waited for the bigger one and if I got busted then I would have been grateful to witness such a thing in the woods and gone home empty handed. Point is it was his arrow, no one else’s. He let it fly and he was thrilled. They were both shaking so bad. That’s what it’s all about
I let a few people hunt my land. Mostly kids and Wilmington. Often they will ask, "what do you want me to shoot" I always say, its your tag, shoot what you want. I get pissed when someone belittled someone who shoots a small deer. I consider myself a "trophy hunter" as I have the time and properties to do so but I've also shot truckloads of fawns, does not small bucks. I will oppologise to know one.
bucknbears.. dislike? come on man...what's not to like about my post? lol...j/k we all have different goals and opinions.
Tell you what I will make no excuses when I sit if a dumb 115" 8 pointer sticks around in range for too long I may just kill him. I will not have another buck mounted unless it is 150 and the existing big mount will be sold.
