When I shoot fixed heads I shoot Muzzy and love them, but this year I think i'm going with the Hellrazors instead.
Another vote for the Hellrazors. I bought several different BH's last year to try out and of all the top brands including the mechanicals...I kept coming back to the Hellrazors. They are the only ones that didn't break...ever though I did dull two of them, one was from hitting another broadhead in the target (close group) and the other punched through my cheapo walmart target and hit a gravel. I sharpened both with no problems and put them back in the quiver. Shot three deer with them last season, two through the front shoulders (both front shoulders) and still never broke one or even hurt them. There are probably one piece BH's that aren't welded that may be statistically stronger but I don't know how much more a person could ask of a BH than what I put my Hellrazors through last year. I'm sure there are several other heads I didn't try either but outside of something that is titanium and seeks heat, I don't know how much better a BH can get. I hate expandables BTW, I have some Bloodtrackers (3blade) that I would use but that's it for expandables....everything else was junk IMO.
Having tried over the past 40 years at least a dozen fixed blades including Muzzy, in fact Muzzy at one time sponsored me. Tried a number of mechanicals and found faults with all prior to 2001. Started shooting Grim Reaper razor tip 1 3/8 in 2001 and haven't changed. Tried others since but keep going back to the Grim Reaper. It flies like a fieldpoint, and the holes are devastating. The blades are laid back in a slicing angle making it much easier to get a pass through. Tried their new 2" cut with a crossbow this year. It blew right through this doe and stuck 10" in the mud. Put one through this coyote with my Mathews Helium. He went 20 yards. I've taken anything from rabbits to Bear, elk and S. African Game without a single failure. The 2" is good for bows with 70lbs or more KE. Will try others but really don't see changing any time soon. To me the energy from the we have today, a cut on contact is not necessary to get a pass through. The Trocar tip breaks bone in the same direction as the blades follow, allowing for more pass throughs. JMO
Ramcat. Although I just bought my first pack last weekend through Bass Pro and haven't had the chance to hunt with them yet, so far they have lived up to their hype of the sharpest, quietest, most durable, and furthest penetrating broadhead on the market. I went out with the intentions of having to resight in my bow and make adjustments etc... they flew exactly like my field points from 20-60 yards. There are multiple online sources, forums and videos that will tell you all about them. Although they may not be COC, I highly recommend them. Goodluck
