My dad is approaching a well deserved retirement. He is an extremely talented guy and loves to work with metal. One of the hobbies he intends to take up in retirement is knife making. He built himself a custom knife grinder out of an old Shop Smith last year. As a surprise for Christmas he made 3 knives for members of our family this year. For his first 3 knives ever I think he did a pretty darn good job. He did the etching himself and also made the leather sheaths. Mine is the one with the brown handle. The crowd favorite so far seems to be the one with the blue handle. They look to nice to use but he insist that we use them. The next deer that hits the ground will be gut with a pretty fancy knife.
He's not normal There are definitely some flaws in each of them but he was also rushing to get them done.
Wow, I have a few custom knives and I think he is off to an amazing start! Please continue to post up his work in the future. I can only imagine how good he is going to get. Enjoy a working piece of art that will last you a lifetime.
Man...I cant pick a favorite. The leather work intrigues me too. I think retirement will treat him well. Lol. Amazing. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
