I find I like strings built by custom builders better than those made by big manufacturers on a machine (though the video of Octane's string machine is impressive for sure). Not just because a small builder really takes their time to ensure that they build you a quality set because they know their reputation is on the line, but you generally have many more options and choices when picking colors, materials, etc. Also you get to talk to the actual person who made them and they can often offer tips on set-up to make tuning easier when installing the set. It is nice to be able to draw on that knowledge.
We do offer pin striping on single cam sets. Here is the link to our pin stripe package BCY-X with Pin Stripe String Package - 60X Custom Strings Halo works well on some bows and not so well on others. There is a misconception that since halo is more expensive that it is always better when it actually depends on the application.
All I can say everyone its your pocket book if you want to spend $90 and up for a set of strings go for it. Our pricing is under that and We build-em! We sell-em! and We back-em! Pm me if you are interested and I will take another $10 off your total price. Its the least I can do for my forum buddies! Hutch
Hey Hutch could you make a string that would be mostly bright orange like the color of my bag and with only random black in it similar to this picture from one of your posts?
Its called flo orange speckled and flo orange and yes we can this one is yellow speckled and black speckled with a flo orange pin Hutch
Tom, I got some pics of a flo orange & black that hutch made for my buddies Helim. I will see if I can find them. The flo orange speckeled is a sweet looking color. Hoyt Faktor 30 Bowstring Depot Field Staff
I've got a new HTR too and custom bow strings do sound appealing. But wouldn't it be good just to shoot the new strings until I need them or do the Mathews stock strings suck so bad that they should be dispensed with right away?
Let me lay it straight some bow manufacturers build good strings and some terrible. Only true way is to shoot them and see. Once you start having problems then change. Or what most do is buy a set of customs and use the stock as back ups. Hutch
Honestly through the years Matthews stock strings have been a crappy as you can find. Oddly the only larger bow company that had worse strings was Hoyt...that said the last two years Hoyt improved them a lot.
There are a few company's right now who are using pretty decent string sets from Good string builders... If that's the case unless your really picky or jut want custom colors you'd wouldn't be loosing much shooting out the set that comes with it.
I've got flo yellow/black twist with clear halo serving on my huntings bows. I use Mathews Trophy strings. SCFox
